(10-15-2025, 10:30PM): The Columbia Central Golden Eagles used a three goal first half to help shutout conference rival Grass Lake 5-0, to win a boys soccer district championship on Wednesday night at Hillsdale High School.

CC scored in the first five minutes of action as senior Carter Simpson put his team on the board with 35:40 left in the first half for a 1-0 lead.

With 10:55 left in the half, Carter Simpson put another one in the back of the net to extend the Eagles lead to 2-0. Simpson continued his excellent night, completing the hat trick and scoring with two minutes left in the half to make it a 3-0 CC lead.

Eli Hawley opened the 2nd half scoring, putting it in on a penalty kick from nearly 20 yards out to the net to make it a 4-0 contest. Hawley added his second goal with under 20 minutes left in the game to score the fifth goal for the Golden Eagles.

Columbia Central would go onto win with a final score of 5-0. Carter Simpson scored 3 goals and Eli Hawley added 2 for the Golden Eagles. Grass Lake ends its season at 12-8-5 overall. CC advances to the D3 Regional Semifinal on Tuesday (10/21) vs Frankenmuth, the game will be hosted at Williamston High School.
