Spring Arbor, Michigan– The Spring Arbor University women’s soccer team moved up one spot to No. 2 in the final regular season edition of the NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, released by the national office Tuesday.
Southeastern (Fla.) is the new No. 1. The program received 479 points and eight first place votes, while the Cougars trailed behind with 478 points and four first place votes. William Carey (Miss.), the previous top-ranked team, fell to No. 3 in the rankings with Vanguard (Calif.) and Martin Methodist (Tenn.) rounding out the top-five.
Spring Arbor ended the regular season with a share of the Crossroads League title. They earned the No. 1-seed for the Crossroads League Tournament. The Cougars cruised through the first two rounds of the tournament last week, and now have their sights set on their ninth consecutive tournament title as they take on second-seeded, and No. 13 ranked, Grace College in the championship match.
The Crossroads League Tournament Championship between Spring Arbor (16-1-1) and Grace (18-2-0) is set for Saturday, November 10th starting at 3pm from the Cougar Soccer Complex. The winner will receive the league’s automatic bid to the 2018 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship.
