Albion College to Play Against Michigan State University in Men’s Hoops

Albion College, the 2019 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament champions, will tip off the men’s basketball season with an October 29th exhibition game against Big Ten Champion and Final Four participant Michigan State University. JTV Sports | June 20th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Tip time and any television coverage for Albion College's game against the Spartans will be announced at a later date. In addition to giving Albion a powerful test prior to its November 8th opener at the University of Mount Union- the exhibition also means Albion guards Zachary and Khy Winston will play against their older brother Cassius. Winston was a consensus All-American and the Big Ten Player of the Year for Michigan State in 2019. “We have the utmost respect for Head Coach Tom Izzo and the Michigan State basketball program,” Albion Head Coach Jody May said. “We are excited for the opportunity to take the floor against one of the top college basketball teams in the country" The MIAA is America’s oldest collegiate conference and Michigan State was a member of the MIAA from 1888-1907 when it was known as Michigan Agricultural College. Spring Arbor’s Chris Bauman Named Sports Information Director of the Year

The Crossroads League announced on Tuesday that Chris Bauman from Spring Arbor University had been named its 2018-2019 Sports Information Director of the Year. The award is the first for Bauman, who recently completed his fifth year as the SID for the Cougars. The award is the first for Bauman, who recently completed his fifth year as the SID for the Cougars. Bauman and his department stayed busy throughout the 2018-2019 year, providing critical coverage of the success of multiple SAU teams and student-athletes on the national level. The Cougars won the NAIA Division II National Championship in men’s basketball, were NAIA National Tournament Semifinalists in women’s soccer and secured a pair of individual NAIA National Championships in track and field. Without Bauman, nearly all of the stories that JTV has carried about SAU this year wouldn't have been possible. ArShawn Parker raising funds for Albion students

ArShawn Parker, who will complete his requirements for an Albion degree during the 2019-2020 academic year, is working to raise funds for himself and a group of Albion students to attend a month-long InterVarsity Leadership Institute in Cedarville this summer. Torey Higgs signs with Siena Heights

Torey Higgs of Vandercook Lake High School has signed to play basketball at Siena Heights University in Adrian. Higgs will continue his basketball career and education while at the local University. Higgs earned multiple varsity letters while at Vandy.  JTV Sports | May 23rd, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– Another Jackson Area Athlete has signed to play collegiate athletics. Torey Higgs of Vandercook Lake High School has signed to play basketball at Siena Heights University in Adrian. Higgs earned multiple varsity letters while at Vandy, and made huge contributions on the floor for the program. The Jayhawks finished their 2018-2019 campaign with an overall record of 11-10. Their season started hot however. Really hot. The team strung together a 6-1 record to open the year- with their only loss by a margin of a single bucket. Just one year ago the team only won a pair of games, going 2-19. Those days are long gone for Vandercook Lake’s varsity basketball team. This means a lot to the schools. Julia Lefere signs with Lawrence Tech

Julia Lefere has signed with Lawrence Tech. Julia will continue her golf career while at Lawrence Tech. Julia earned 4 varsity letters and competed in multiple State Finals at Northwest.  JTV Sports | May 21st, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– Another pair of Jackson Area Athlete signings have been announced. Both of the Northwest Community School's athletes and their signings were announced yesterday. Senior Julia Lefere signed to continue her academic and athletic career at Lawrence Tech. Julia will continue to golf in college. Julia earned 4 varsity letters and competed in multiple State Finals while golfing at Northwest. Julia was also a 4 year soccer player for the Mounties soccer program.  Lawrence Technological University, frequently referred to as Lawrence Tech, is a private university in Southfield, Michigan. Jadin White signs with Concordia University

Jadin White has signed with Concordia University of Ann Arbor. Jadin will continue his football career while at Concordia. Jadin had a highly successful playing career in football at Northwest.  JTV Sports | May 21st, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– Another pair of Jackson Area Athlete signings have been announced. Both of the Northwest Community School's athletes and their signings were announced yesterday. Senior Jadin White signed today to continue his academic and athletic career with Concordia in Ann Arbor. Jadin will be joining the Concordia football program. Concordia University of Ann Arbor is a private liberal arts university. Its 187-acre campus sits on the banks of the Huron River, about ten minutes outside downtown Ann Arbor. Concordia had an incredible season last year. They made it to the NAIA Football Championship Series Quarterfinal Round, where they fell 58-34 to Benedictine College.
