Spring Arbor’s Chris Bauman Named Sports Information Director of the Year

The Crossroads League announced on Tuesday that Chris Bauman from Spring Arbor University had been named its 2018-2019 Sports Information Director of the Year. The award is the first for Bauman, who recently completed his fifth year as the SID for the Cougars. The award is the first for Bauman, who recently completed his fifth year as the SID for the Cougars. Bauman and his department stayed busy throughout the 2018-2019 year, providing critical coverage of the success of multiple SAU teams and student-athletes on the national level. The Cougars won the NAIA Division II National Championship in men’s basketball, were NAIA National Tournament Semifinalists in women’s soccer and secured a pair of individual NAIA National Championships in track and field. Without Bauman, nearly all of the stories that JTV has carried about SAU this year wouldn't have been possible. Torey Higgs signs with Siena Heights

Torey Higgs of Vandercook Lake High School has signed to play basketball at Siena Heights University in Adrian. Higgs will continue his basketball career and education while at the local University. Higgs earned multiple varsity letters while at Vandy.  JTV Sports | May 23rd, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– Another Jackson Area Athlete has signed to play collegiate athletics. Torey Higgs of Vandercook Lake High School has signed to play basketball at Siena Heights University in Adrian. Higgs earned multiple varsity letters while at Vandy, and made huge contributions on the floor for the program. The Jayhawks finished their 2018-2019 campaign with an overall record of 11-10. Their season started hot however. Really hot. The team strung together a 6-1 record to open the year- with their only loss by a margin of a single bucket. Just one year ago the team only won a pair of games, going 2-19. Those days are long gone for Vandercook Lake’s varsity basketball team. This means a lot to the schools. Jadin White signs with Concordia University

Jadin White has signed with Concordia University of Ann Arbor. Jadin will continue his football career while at Concordia. Jadin had a highly successful playing career in football at Northwest.  JTV Sports | May 21st, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– Another pair of Jackson Area Athlete signings have been announced. Both of the Northwest Community School's athletes and their signings were announced yesterday. Senior Jadin White signed today to continue his academic and athletic career with Concordia in Ann Arbor. Jadin will be joining the Concordia football program. Concordia University of Ann Arbor is a private liberal arts university. Its 187-acre campus sits on the banks of the Huron River, about ten minutes outside downtown Ann Arbor. Concordia had an incredible season last year. They made it to the NAIA Football Championship Series Quarterfinal Round, where they fell 58-34 to Benedictine College. Conley Named All-Crossroads League

JTV Sports | May 10th, 2019 | Chris Bauman Spring Arbor, Michigan– Spring Arbor University senior Cameron Conley closed out his outstanding career by earning his first All-Crossroads League selection, as announced by the league office Wednesday. Conley becomes Spring Arbor's first all-league performer since the 2014-15 season when Cody Lysher secured the honor. The Grand Ledge, Michigan product put together a spectacular campaign in his final season with the Cougars. He placed in the top-three in a total of three events, including one runner-up finish, and recorded the best scoring average of his four-year career, posting a team-leading 74.6 in 18 rounds played. His season-low round was a five-under par 67 he fired at the Lou Collins Memorial Classic at Bedford Valley Golf Club in the fall, which tied the program's all-time record set by SAU Hall of Famer Roy Adair in 2001 at the same course. Conley has either ranked first or second on the team in scoring average in each of his four seasons. He has 10 career top-10 finishes and eight career top-5 finishes. 5th for Women, 8th for Men at Crossroads League Championships

JTV Sports | May 10th, 2019 | Chris Bauman Spring Arbor, Michigan– The 2019 Crossroads League Track & Field Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University, came to a close on Friday with the Spring Arbor University women's team earning a fifth place finish and the men's team placing eighth. The SAU women accumulated 59.5 points and the men finished with 29. In total, the Cougars recorded five All-Crossroads League performances, including two league champions as Kyara Black won the high jump and Max Whittredge claimed first in the 800 meter run. Bethel College captured the men's team title with a total of 172.5 points while Indiana Wesleyan ran away with the women's championship, collecting 218.5 points. After finishing third at the league championships in the 800 a season ago, Max Whittredge turned in a personal-best 1:54.28 on Friday to capture his first league title. The 4x800 meter relay team – made up of Deion Feldpausch, Timothy Nelson, Trent Smith and Whittredge – qualified for the NAIA outdoor national championships. The Cougars completed the race in fourth place with an NAIA B standard time of 7:47.55. Zach Lamphere came up just short of earning All-Crossroads League honors. The sophomore finished in fourth place in the 110 meter hurdles with a career-best time…
