Tecumseh, Michigan – Come celebrate the Season with the Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) Big Band & VocalAires as they present their 12th annual holiday concert, Sunday, December 13 beginning at 4 pm. Enjoy tried and true Christmas carols with a few surprises during this year’s performance. With tickets at just $10 each, the whole family can enjoy a musical celebration that is sure to become part of your holiday traditions.
Along with their annual concerts at the TCA in May and December, the TCA Big Band & VocalAires has performed at numerous shows, festivals, and benefits. They have been the opening act for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and several orchestras, including the Glenn Miller, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Arte Shaw, Benny Goodman, and Cab Calloway Orchestras. The band has performed well over 100 times, not only in Lenawee County, but also in Washtenaw, Monroe, and Jackson Counties in Michigan, and Lucas County in Ohio. Led by Adrian College’s Director of Bands and Music Department Chair Marty Marks, this group is one of Tecumseh’s gems as they dazzle fans with five saxes, five trombones, four trumpets, four rhythm players, and seven vocalists.
“We’ll be playing some familiar tunes and some that may not be as familiar, with a mix of holiday and traditional big band songs,” stated Dr. Marty Marks, TCA Big Band conductor.
TCA Big Band and VocalAires will feature vocalists Connie Hutchison, Joyce Lancaster, Heather Hardcastle and Mike Ratz singing songs including White Christmas, Home for the Holidays, Everybody’s Waitin’ for the Man with the Bag and Here’s to Life. The TCA Big Band will also perform holiday favorites including Adeste Fidelis (Oh Come All Ye Faithful), and I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day, along with big band tunes such as Opus One and much more.
TCA Big Band and VocalAires will continue its 12-year tradition of collecting donations of non-perishable food items, as well as personal and paper products for the Tecumseh Service Club during the concert. The Tecumseh Service Club will distribute all collected items to families in need in the Tecumseh, Tipton, Ridgeway, Britton, Macon, and Clinton areas before the holidays.
