(October 4, 2021 4:56 PM) It was a good day for Jackson County girls’ golf teams at regional meets on Monday.

Three teams and two individuals will be heading to the Michigan High School Athletic Association state golf finals Oct. 15, 16, at various courses.

Michigan Center High School golfer Kamryn Shannon shot a 1-under-par 71 at the Hills of Lenawee Golf Club in Adrian.

Here is a rundown of the various regional competitions held on Monday. Several Jackson County schools will be playing at Cascades Golf Course on Wednesday at the Division 4 regional. 

Division 4 at Hills of Lenawee Golf Club: Kamryn Shannon of Michigan Center shot a 1-under-par 71 to lead the Cardinals to a second-place finish at the Division 4 regional in Adrian. Lenawee Christian won the event with 378, MCHS shot 417, and Hanover-Horton took the third and final spot with 430. Logan Bentley of Columbia Central is an individual qualifier shooting an 86 on Monday. She will be joined by Kyleigh Ramos (96) of Clinton and Annika Berg (98) of Onsted. MCHS golfer Kylie McKee shot a 110, Jessica Swihart finished with 116, and Elly Trefry shot a 120. Hanover-Horton was led by Danni Swihart with a 101, Drew Swihart shot 109, and Alicia VanEpps and Holly Miller finished with 110s. Columbia Central finished fifth with 453, Grass Lake was sixth shooting 472, and Concord placed seventh with 501. Grass Lake was led by Julie Johnston with 109 and Faith Moore shot 110 to lead Concord. The top three teams and top three qualifiers not on state qualifying teams qualify for the Michigan High School Athletic Association state finals. The D-4 final will be Oct. 15, 16 at Forest Akers East.  

Western at Niles D-3 regional: Western High School won the regional at Orchard Hills Country Club near Niles. The Panthers finished with a four-man total of 380 as Sydnie Redovich shot an 83 and Brune Savage carded an 85. Amber Ladd shot 103 and Gabriella Davis finished with 109 for Western. Redovich and Savage finished second and third overall respectively in the individual competition. The D-3 final will be Oct. 15, 16 at Forest Akers West. 

Jackson at Groesbeck regionals: Jackson finished 10th as a team in the Division 2 regional at Groesbeck Golf Course. Junior Natalie Kulka qualified for the Michigan High School Athletic Association D-2 finals with an 81. She was one of three individual qualifiers not on state qualifying teams. Sheridan Maske shot a 109, Felicia Huffman finished with a 112, and Avery White carded a 114 for the Vikings. The Division 2 final will be at Bedford Valley near Battle Creek on Oct. 15, 16.
