(3-19-2026, 5:00PM): Defense first has been the mentality of first year HC Scott Stine and the Lumen Christi Titans this season, and it showed once again on Thursday. Jackson Lumen Christi handily defeated Niles Brandywine 51-33 at Michigan State University in the MHSAA Girls Basketball Division 3 semifinals, advancing to their first ever state championship game appearance.

LC started off hot on the offensive end of the floor, leading 14-0 in the first quarter until the Bobcats finally got on the board with three minutes on the clock. The Titans allowed just three points and led 18-3 after the first quarter, all 8 of senior Lily Ganton’s first half points came in the first.

The Titans continued to win on both ends of the floor in the second quarter, scoring four points in the first minute of the quarter. Lumen Christi would take a 29-10 halftime lead, Lucy Wrozek scoring 10 points in the half with two steals plus three steals from Lily Ganton.

Niles Brandywine would have its best quarter in the 3rd, with even 15-15 scoring in those eight minutes. But the Titans’ 15 points would keep them in the driver’s seat, leading 44-25 after three quarters.

Lumen Christi would go onto win 51-33, defeating Niles Brandywine and advancing to their first ever state championship game appearance. Zaya Price led N.B. with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Kenna Hunt led the scoring for LC with 16 points to go with 8 assists, 7 rebounds and 7 steals. Lily Ganton added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals, Lucy Wrozek scored 10 points and 4 rebounds.

“Scott (Stine) wins wherever he goes, we had a rough start with bad coaching, and it’s tough to stop Hunt and Lucy (Wrozek)” said Niles Brandywine HC Josh Hood in the postgame press conference.

“We played lights out, shot the ball really well and couldn’t be more proud of how we played” said Lumen Christi HC Scott Stine. “When my coach and my teammates give me that confidence, it means everything. I had open looks and thankful to knock down shots” said LC senior Lily Ganton.

Lumen Christi will face Pewamo-Westphalia in the 2026 MHSAA Division 3 Girls Basketball state championship, Saturday at 4pm at MSU.
