Titans Shut Down Bluestreak Offense in Regional Win

(11-14-2025, 11:55PM): The Lumen Christi Titans took down the Ida Bluestreaks 21-7 at Crowley Memorial Field on Friday night to advance to the Division 6 state semifinals. 

On the opening possession, the Ida defense forced a punt after one Titan first down. When their offense took the field, the momentum carried over. Chunk plays carried them into the end zone. Justin Crozier got 38 yards on a 3rd and 2 run, then another 11 setting up 1st and goal from the 2. Braden Bydlowski capped off the impressive bluestreak drive on a 2-yard rushing touchdown to take the early 7-point lead. 

Lumen Christi then executes a classic Titan drive starting with gains of 5, 7, 6, and 11 yards. The Titans found themselves in another 4th down situation later in the drive, but Sean Walicki broke free for a 28 yard TD on 4th and 2 to equalize the score.

A holding call on the first play of their next drive pushed the Titans back to the 8 yard line. The Titans quickly overcame the setback with a 15 yard rush by Paul Sattler and a 13 yard reception by Wes Learned from the arm of QB Benny Gaston. A few plays later, Gaston tossed up a jump ball that the Bluestreaks came down with for the interception. The Titan defense forced them to punt, giving the offense the ball back with under 2 minutes in the half. 

Sattler and Amarion Clay started the 2 minute drill with carries of 8 and 9 yards. With 19 seconds left, Gaston sends a ball deep into the end zone for another jump ball scenario. This time, WR Wes Learned goes over top, mossing the defender to secure the ball and the lead at the half, 14-7.

Lumen Christi conducted a drive taking up a majority of the 3rd quarter and carried over into the 4th. An 11 yard reception from Johnny Walters followed by 2 more substantial Paul Sattler runs set up a 9 yard rushing touchdown for #9, Sean Walicki, to extend the lead to 21-7.

Ida’s offense was stifled by the Titans once more. On a 4th and 7 attempt, Snyder was taken down for a strip sack, recovered by Lumen Christi at the Ida 39 with 4:16 remaining. Lumen Christi kept possession for the rest of the game and advanced deeper into the playoffs with a 21-7 win over Ida. 

Sean Walicki scored 2 TDs to lead the Titans. QB Benny Gaston threw for 1 TD and 1 INT, and Wes Learned added a 37-yard receiving TD. Lumen Christi wins its 5th straight regional championship, they will face 12-0 Almont next Saturday (11/22) in the MHSAA Division 6 semifinals, the neutral site and game time is TBD.
