(6-3-2026, 9:00PM): Lumen Christi shut out Springport in the Division 3 Regional Semi-Final on Wednesday, winning 6-0 at Lansing Catholic HS.
Lumen Christi’s Kellen Crowley started hot on the mound. Drew Kregel made contact on Crowley’s first pitch and was thrown out at first. Crowley struck out the next two batters for a three up and out inning.
The Titan bats started hot as well. Jack Fitzpatrick hit Andon Zienert’s first pitch right up the middle for a single. Shortly after, he was thrown out while attempting to steal 2nd by Springport catcher Drew Kregel. With two outs, Benny Gaston was hit by a pitch and Paul Sattler got on base with a single into left field. With Gaston and Sattler in scoring position, Wes Learned sent a grounder through the shortstop and third base gap to get them both home on his 2RBI single. The Titans exit the first inning up 2-0 over the Spartans.
Josh Jordan got the first Spartan hit atop the third inning with a line drive over second base for a single. He then stole second and third before being left on base after another scoreless inning for Springport. Jack Fitzpatrick walked and found his way to third through the next two at-bats which resulted in outs. With 2 outs, Sattler stepped up to the plate and delivered a grounder to the second baseman, but was safe at first via an error. That allowed Fitzpatrick to find his way home to extend the Titan lead to 3.
In the fifth inning, Crowley finished his night on the mound with three consecutive strikeouts. He led off the bottom of the inning as well, finding his way to first after his grounder to shortstop and an error on a wild throw. Benny Gaston’s line drive hit to left field got him to second and Crowley home on errors. The Titans led 4-0 at the end of the 5th inning.
Lumen Christi’s bats were on fire in the bottom of the sixth. Eli Kimble sent a ball into left field for a single followed by a River McCluskey bunt single, and a deep shot just on the fair side of the foul line in right field for a 2-RBI double off the bat of Kellen Crowley.
The game ended with Springport at-bat atop the seventh inning. The Spartans had the bases loaded after Gavin Lightner and Kolton Woyame were hit by pitches and Overweg had a ground ball single. However, they were all left on base as the Titans got the third out with a McCluskey strikeout.
The Lumen Christi Titans won the Regional Semi-Final over the Springport Spartans 6-0. The mound shined for the Titans in the shutout affair. Kellen Crowley allowed only two hits, and three total base runners with seven strikeouts in five innings. He also got on base in two of four at-bats including his 2-RBI double. River McCluskey had four strikeouts in his two innings.
LC will face Plymouth Christian in the D3 Regional Final on Saturday in Plymouth, the winner will face Jonesville or Detroit Edison for a chance to head to the final four at MSU.
