The City of Jackson will begin a project to do pavement patching on Daniel Road and on Brown Street between Michigan and Daniel on Tuesday.
The work will mill out and patch those sections of the southbound travel lane on Daniel and Brown that are cracked, broken and potholed. The work will likely take about a week to complete.
Early this week, temporary signs, barricades and cones will be set up to control traffic. The mill is scheduled to arrive in the middle of next week to remove the pavement in those sections to be patched. The milling will be done in a single day. Base and middle layers of new hot mix asphalt will then be paved in a day. It will then take a couple of days for the electrician to replace the vehicle detection loops in the pavement for the signal at Brown and Michigan. After the loops are in, the top layer of asphalt will be paved and the street will be opened to traffic.
During the construction period, Brown and Daniel will remain open for northbound traffic only. The southbound lane will be closed to traffic. Temporary signing, barricades and cones will be erected to direct southbound traffic long a Wisner to Michigan to Brown detour route and vice versa.
