Warriors Chasing Cascades Title in 2024

(8-18-2024, 12:00PM): Since the year 2000, the Grass Lake Warriors have made the playoffs 18 of 23 seasons, a historically winning program, but that’s not all they want to do in 2024.

Head Coach Randy Cole is entering his 25th season at the helm of the Warriors, and has led GL to a winning record 22 times since 1999. 

Longtime coordinators also return this season as well. Anthony Cole is back as the offensive coordinator and Chris Reul as the defensive coordinator. GL alumni Travis Rubingh leads the Warriors offensive/defensive line.

Key returners for Grass Lake include seniors all-state QB Brayden Lape, all-region Bryant Cook (WR/S), all-conference Quint Leland (OT/DE), Jacob Collins (WR/DE), Zach Myer (OT/DE), Dylan Frey (OG/DT), Dawson Diuble (RB/LB), and Aaron Maynard (C/DT). 

Newcomers expected to make an impact include juniors Luke Guthrie (RB/LB), Manny Schafran (OT/DT), and Ben Simon (OL/DL). 

Grass Lake’s 2023 campaign included a playoff appearance, but fell in the opening round to 2x defending state champion Lumen Christi. 

Goals for this season include winning the Cascades Conference championship and getting back to the playoffs. “This is a team with a lot of potential. This is also a senior heavy team. They are looking for consistent subs of younger classman to earn experience” said Coach Randy Cole. 

Grass Lake returns seven starters on both offense and defense coming into the 2024 season.
