What looked like (on paper) a duel between two exceptional pitchers, ended in a Warrior sweep of both games on Wednesday night.

The first game, Napoleon started out struggling. Grass Lake took advantage and never looked back. Freshman Luke Guthrie started the game with a single in the game’s first at-bat. Then, Jacob Collins followed with an RBI single to give GL the first run.

Brayden Lape hit a deep ball, and ended up as a double, putting two runners in scoring position. GL continued it’s hot batting with a 2-RBI double by Avin Sandoval, and another RBI single by Jack Reid to make it 4-0 GL after the first inning.

Napoleon pitcher Grant Bradley, a University of Michigan commit, struggled in this first game to get it going, as he was pulled after the second inning. Grass Lake added 3 more hits to make it 8-0 after the 2nd. Bradley finished with 4 strikeouts in his 2 innings pitched.

A couple of wild pitches by Grass Lake allowed Napoleon to make it 9-2, but wasn’t enough. Napoleon also had a share of their own wild pitches to make it 13-2. Grass Lake takes the first game by mercy rule, 13-3.

Grass Lake also took the hot hand into the pitching side of things in game two.

Brayden Lape threw 3 strikeouts in the first inning, followed by another RBI double from Avin Sandoval to make it 2-0. Napoleon responded with 3 hits in the second but the third out left the runners on base stranded to end the inning.

Multiple Warriors including Bryant Cook, Jacob Collins, and Jack Reid all extended GL’s lead to 10-0 after 3 innings.

Ultimately, Napoleon wasn’t able to get things rolling on either side and fell in both games by mercy rule.

Grass Lake was led by Avin Sandoval having two 2-RBI doubles and Jacob Collins adding two RBI singles in the first game. Brayden Lape threw a total of 10 strikeouts in the second game to lead GL.
