Napoleon 30, Leslie 26: After trailing 26-16 at halftime, the Pirates scored two TDs in the 2nd half to hand the Blackhawks its third straight loss. Leslie QB Joel Cranmore finished with 221 yards for 2 TDs and Napoleon’s Zavier Skog rushed for 2 TDs. NHS improves to 5-2 and travels to 7-0 Michigan Center next week, the winner will take the Cascades-East and a spot in the conference title game.
Columbia Central 27, Jonesville 26: The Golden Eagles defense made a goal line stand on the last play to win a huge Cascades-West game over the Comets. Bauston Pilaczynski led the CC offense with 14 carries for 156 yards and 3 touchdowns, as the team rushed for 350 yards overall. CC is now 4-3 overall and just one game behind Hanover Horton for first place in the west heading into Week 8.
Addison 22, Homer 7: Austin Wilson carried the ball 22 times for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns for Addison, Quincy Smith led the defense with 7 tackles. Coach Harry Bailey and the Panthers pick up their first win of the season, they improve to 1-6 and travel to Hanover Horton next Friday.
Springport 36, Quincy 20: Tucker Wiginton scored 2 touchdowns for the Spartans, QB Gibson Overweg threw for 98 yards and a TD. Overweg has now thrown for 707 yards on the year (34/50) and the team now averages 33 points per game. Springport earns another Big 8 victory and improves to 7-0 on the season.
Western 32, Northwest 28: The Panthers defense held on late to get back in the win column and defeat their crosstown rival at home. Jayden Willis ran for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Panthers, Brody Parrott added 2 TDs of his own plus 122 yards. Carter Fullerton led the Panthers defense with 13 tackles and Cole Archer added 11 (4 for loss). Western and Northwest are both now 2-5 overall. The full game will re-air this weekend on JTV and online at JTV.TV.
Lumen Christi 34, Huron Heights (Ontario) 14: The Titans improve to 4-3 overall. LC travels north to D6 powerhouse Traverse City St. Francis (6-1) next week on Saturday.
Michigan Center 46, Grass Lake 12: MC is now 7-0, one of two teams in Jackson County still unbeaten. The Cardinals dominated the 2nd half after the Warriors kept it close plus several MC penalties in the first half. QB Hadyn Hinkle went 14/23 for 220 yards, 6 TD’s (5 passing) and 1 INT for the Cardinals. Braylon Brown rushed for a TD and caught two, Jack Layher led the defense with 10 tackles. Michigan Center hosts Napoleon next week for the Cascades-East division championship, the game will air LIVE on JTV.
Stockbridge 20, Vermontville Maple Valley 13: QB Noah Sandecki finished 10/16 passing for 165 yards and 2 TDs plus 77 rushing yards to lead Stockbridge. Brandon Hamlett led the Panthers defense with 6 tackles.
Hanover Horton 56, Vandercook Lake 7: QB Devin Bevier led the Comets with 3 touchdowns including two passing. JJ Russ scored 2 touchdowns, Kolin Griffiths and Austyn Hocter also scored for HHHS. Adam Ley led the defense with 8 tackles. Hanover Horton is now 5-2 overall and in the drivers seat for the Cascades-West division, they host Addison next week.
Concord 64, Holgate Ohio 20: QB Gavin Riske threw for 140 yards and scored 5 total touchdowns (3 rushing) for the Yellowjackets. Trenton Frazer also ran for 3 touchdowns for Concord plus a receiving TD. Hunter Watts and Tyler Rundle also scored as CHS improved to 4-3 and travels to Adrian Lenawee Christian next week.
