WEEK 7 – HS FOOTBALL:

Springport 28, Union City 14: The Spartans tamed the Chargers for the second consecutive season and ended Union City’s undefeated season. Trey Macdonald ran 20 times for 107 yards and a touchdown for Union City. His running mate, Kenny Case, carried the ball 12 times for 65 yards and touchdown as well. Springport QB Rip Overweg went five of six passing the ball for 92 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught an interception from the defensive back position. His receiver, Jake Kregel, caught two passes for 34 yards and a score. Springport now holds the top of the Big 8 conference once again and improves to 6-1 overall.

 

Jonesville 30, Addison 14: Jonesville gets back in the win column and snaps a four-game losing streak with a conference win.

 

Hanover Horton 52, Leslie 28: Austyn Hocter rushed for 225 yards and four touchdowns, all in the first half for the Comets in the home win. Carl Maynard scored two TDs, and Kolin Griffiths added a touchdown. Nolan Arbuckle led the Comets defense with seven tackles. Leslie QB Joel Cranmore threw for 190 yards and scored four total touchdowns. HH is now 6-1 overall and will travel to Manchester next Saturday for the Cascades Conference championship game.

 

Michigan Center 22, Grass Lake 14: The Cardinals earned a much-needed win at home on homecoming night. MC improves to 3-4 overall, Grass Lake falls to 1-6.

 

Napoleon 50, Columbia Central 15: In a highly anticipated battle for the jug, the Pirates continued its offensive domination on Friday with a blowout conference win. Napoleon has now won eight straight over their rival CC.

 

Manchester 46, Vandercook Lake 9: Manchester officially clinches the North division of the Cascades with the road win. The Dutch will host Hanover Horton next Saturday for the conference title game, Manchester is looking to win its first Cascades title since 2015.

 

Lumen Christi 43, Toledo St. Francis de Sales 28: The Titans have now won back-to-back games and end their five-game home stand at 6-1 overall.

 

Jackson 43, Ypsilanti Lincoln 21: Jackson improves to 3-4 and snaps a two-game skid with a homecoming win.

 

Concord 62, Southfield Christian 13: QB Wyatt Mandrelle and the Yellowjackets offense continue to impress, Mandrelle threw for 253 yards and six touchdowns in the road win. Culley Sprague and Darrell Dean Jr. each caught two touchdowns to lead the receivers. Luke Burrow returned a kickoff for a TD for Concord, they are now 5-2 overall with four straight wins.
