(11-23-2024, 7:20PM): After a scoreless opening quarter, the Lumen Christi Titans dominated the rest of the way on Saturday, picking up a 35-6 win over Marine City in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 6 football semifinal.
Both teams each punted twice in the first quarter. Lumen Christi running back Kadale Williams reached the 2,000 yards mark on the season, achieving it on a 57-yard carry with seven minutes left.
QB Timmy Crowley aired it out for Wes Learned to open the second quarter, Learned grabbed an 80-yard touchdown reception to make it 7-0 Titans with 5:37 left in the first half. Lumen Christi closed out the first half with a two-minute drill, RB Kadale Williams punched it in from eight yards out to make it 14-0 LC at halftime.
It was the Kadale Williams show in the second half, as he scored on the first play from scrimmage to begin the third quarter. That carry was from 66 yards out to make it a 21-0 Titans lead.
Lumen continued to dominate the rest of the way in the second half, forcing multiple punts and grabbing an interception on defense. Williams scored on two more runs, both from 60 and 62 yards to make it a 35-0 LC lead. Luke Muscat scored in the fourth quarter for Marine City, this one from 10 yards.
Lumen Christi took home a 35-6 semifinal win on Saturday afternoon over Marine City at Novi High School. QB Timmy Crowley finished 2/5 passing for 87 yards and 1 TD. RB Kadale Williams finished with 350 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries. Issac Rehberg led the Titans defense with 14 tackles.
Williams’ performance put him at 38 touchdowns on the season and 2,291 yards, making it just outside the top-30 all time in MHSAA history for a season. Lumen Christi will face Lansing Catholic in the MHSAA D6 Football state final next Friday (11/29) at 4pm in Detroit (Ford Field).
