(Updated 10:10 PM January 10)

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 7 AM Saturday to 10 AM Sunday for the following Michigan counties:  Jackson, Van Buren, Kalamazoo and Calhoun.   In the latest update, precipitation totals have been revised slightly upward.

Heavy mixed precipitation is expected. Total sleet accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of one quarter to three quarters of an inch are expected. Northeast winds may gust as high as 35 mph.

Severe weather is expected to impact the entire state of Michigan over the weekend.

In southern lower Michigan, roughly along I-94, the transition from rain to freezing precipitation will begin by mid-morning Saturday. The National Weather Service says a half inch to three quarters of an inch of ice and 1 inch of sleet possible.

Considerable tree debris and prolonged power outages are possible. Travel impacts are likely due to at least modest ice accumulation even if road temperatures start off warm.  Heavy rain is likely starting early Saturday into Sunday. As much as 2 to 4 inches of water may fall leading to flooding of low- lying areas and roadways. Rapid rises in river levels are also possible, with flooding on downstream rivers later this week.

A Flood Warning is in effect for the Grand River at Jackson beginning Monday morning.  Details here.  A Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday night.
