65th District State Representative Mike Shirkey urged a "yes" vote on Michigan Proposal 1 on Tuesday's election ballot.  According to Shirkey, Proposal 1 eliminates the personal property tax for many businesses without a tax increase on Michigan residents, and guarantees that municipalities will have a revenue source to replace that tax.   The ballot proposal authorizes a new statewide authority to receive a share of the existing state use tax, which is primarily a business tax paid on out-of-state purchases and things like hotel and motel rooms, cars and telecommunication services. The 8th annual Wendy's Charity Challenge will feature two newcomers, two Hall of Famers and six returning past champions. Trish Johnson of England  will make her debut appearance in the event; the other "rookie" is Wendy Doolan of Australia.
