NAACP Hosts MLK Event

The Jackson County Chapter of the NAACP will be hosting their annual program of celebration and observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at Second Missionary Baptist Church on Prospect Street in Jackson.  Chapter President Arlene Robinson and First Vice President Henry Grayson invite the community to attend, beginning at 10 am.  A program includes speakers, awards, music and refreshments following.  Other guests:  Brian Wheeler, Public Information Officer, Consumers Energy;  Jeff Beal, Superintendent, Jackson Public Schools with Director of Communication Kriss Giannetti;  Kim & Alan DeVaughn, Jackson Bridal Fair;  Ken Toll and Rick Chambers, United Way of Jackson County.

Jackson Young Professionals Seeks Members

The Jackson Young Professionals is inviting people age 21-40 to attend their next large group meeting this Thursday at 6pm at City Hall, followed by a social hour at Grand River Brewery.  President Leslie Youngdahl, Vice President Greg Stevenson and Treasurer Tom Jurasek discussed the successes of last year and previewed some of the activities planned for 2015.  Other guests:  Bob Hoffman, Public Relations Manager, Wharton Center;  Clark Galloway, President, EDUStaff;  John Willis, King Community Center Supervisor, Jackson Recreation Department;  Rod Malloy, Executive Director, Dahlem.

New Year Offers from the Jackson YMCA
