U. S. Army Jazz Ambassadors

The internationally acclaimed Jazz Ambassadors of Washington, D.C. continued its long tradition of presenting free public performances when it appeared in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Potter Center at Jackson College in June.  The Jazz Ambassadors is the official touring big band of the United States Army. Formed in 1969, this 19-member ensemble has received great acclaim at home and abroad performing America’s greatest original art form, jazz.

Drive NASCAR’s fastest track

BROOKLYN, Mich. —Want to be like a NASCAR Hall of Famer or any of your favorite NASCAR drivers? Now is your opportunity to drive on the racing surface with the popular Track Laps at Michigan International Speedway. MIS is bringing back its track laps program, where race fans can drive on NASCAR’s fastest racetrack. Fans can experience the banking in the corners and follow the same lines as the NASCAR drivers do – and help raise money for charity. “This is a highlight for the fans,” track president Roger Curtis said. “We often hear from our fans how they want to drive on the track and now is their opportunity to be a driver for a day. Everyone wants to emulate their favorite driver and experience what a NASCAR driver experiences.” Fans will have the opportunity to drive laps twice in July. The track will be open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for laps on Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 14. Reservations for track laps can be made by calling 800-354-1010 (no online purchases available).
