Michael Hall named first Spring Arbor Bowling head coach

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University director of athletics Ryan Cottingham has announced that Michael Hall has been named the inaugural head coach of the men's and women's bowling programs at SAU.   "We are elated that Michael Hall has accepted the invitation to be our first bowling coach in the history of Spring Arbor University," said Cottingham. "He embodies the mission of SAU and our athletic department."   Hall comes to Spring Arbor with 25 years of experience in the sport. Prior to his arrival, he spent one year at Cornerstone University where he served as the head men's and women's bowling coach. Hall was instrumental in getting the first-year program off the ground at CU and will be tasked with the same duty at SAU.   "You know, leaving Cornerstone has been bittersweet," said Hall. "I pioneered the program there, as I will be doing at SAU, so saying 'goodbye' to them amongst the excitement of the 'hello' at SAU has been a little emotional. The loving welcome from Spring Arbor has been incredible and truly the Light of God shines in everyone my family has met! Through this experience I have witnessed God every step…

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 5 ranked Spring Arbor University women’s soccer team has punched its ticket to the Crossroads League Tournament Championship for the sixth straight season following its 5-0 win over Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday.   Spring Arbor scored four first half goals, including three off of corner kicks, en route to the victory.   The top-seeded Cougars will host third-seeded Marian University in the finals next weekend after the Knights upset second-seeded, and No. 10 ranked, Grace College in the tournament's other semifinal matchup.   Sophomore Sarah Klunder put SAU on the board early when she put a corner kick into the back of the net in the sixth minute. The Cougars doubled their lead in the 13th minute when Klunder found the head of freshman Bethany Balcer, who was just named the league's Player of the Year, on another corner kick. Moments later, the duo would hook up once again in similar fashion with Balcer heading home another corner from Klunder.   Spring Arbor would tack on one more before halftime when freshman Casandra Besteman notched her third goal of the season. Sophomore Abbey Fuller lofted a centering pass towards the goal that the…
