Elaine Crosby to be Inducted into Legends Hall of Fame

The Legends Tour has announced its two newest inductees into the Legends Hall of Fame. LPGA Tour winners Elaine Crosby of Jackson and Sandra Haynie of Fort Worth, Texas, will be inducted on Aug. 19, into the Legends Hall of Fame, a permanent exhibit featured at French Lick Resort, in French Lick, Ind. The induction will be held in conjunction with The Legends Championship presented by Old National Bank, Aug. 18-21, at French Lick Resort. “The Legends Hall of Fame in the West Baden Springs Hotel honors the accomplishments of Legends Tour greats, and we are humbled by the fact that we can house this shrine to those top players,” said Dave Harner, director of golf operations at French Lick Resort. Crosby, an active Legends Tour member, played on the LPGA Tour for more than 20 years, earning tournament victories at the 1989 Mazda Japan Classic and the 1994 Lady Keystone Open. In addition, she won a Futures Tour event (now Symetra Tour) and has recorded one win and 21 top-10 finishes in 42 events on The Legends Tour. Jammin’ In Jackson: Harper and Mindwest Kind

Friday July 1st *Free, family friendly, summer evening concert series. The series takes place in the heart of Downtown Jackson located at the new Horace Blackman Park. This year the music begins at 6pm and plays until 8pm. July 1st featuring original blues/international music by Harper and Midwest Kind. Beer and wine will be sold during each Jammin' In Jackson concert. Alcohol is prohibited outside of the fenced in area. Fencing will surround the stage and seating in Horace Blackman Park. All proceeds will go to The Michigan Theatre of Jackson! Stroll in after work, ride your bike, or bring your family and enjoy free, live and local entertainment! Jackson College Selected to Participate in Second Chance Pell Grant Program

Jackson College is one of only three Michigan colleges selected to provide nearly 1,500 prisoners with access to higher education through a federal pilot program that provides financial aid to inmates interested in pursuing a degree. Jackson College, Delta College and Mott Community College were among 67 higher education institutions nationwide selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Education’s Second Chance Pell Pilot Program, which helps cover the cost of postsecondary education for state and federal prisoners. “Most incarcerated individuals in Michigan will eventually be released once they have completed their sentence, so it is important that they re-enter society with the tools they need to be successful, law-abiding citizens,” Gov. Rick Snyder said. “Education can serve as a gateway to new careers that prevents them from returning to a life of crime and encourages more positive contributions to their community.” The program aims to help prisoners gain the education and skills they need to secure jobs and successfully rejoin the community following release.
