Roger Curtis Leaving Michigan International Speedway
International Speedway Corporation, parent corporation of Michigan International Speedway, today announced that Roger Curtis is leaving his position as President of Michigan International Speedway, effective immediately, to pursue new opportunities. A replacement has not been announced. Joie Chitwood, ISC Chief Operating Officer, will oversee MIS operations in the interim. “We want to thank Roger Curtis for his many years of service with ISC, and the last 10 years, specifically, as the face of Michigan International Speedway,” stated Chitwood. “We wish him much future success.” Roger Curtis joined MIS in 2006 and under his leadership significant improvements were made to the facility, including $85 million in capital investments. The track became a year-round destination, hosting numerous events including the Tough Mudder races and the Faster Horses music festival. Among his accomplishments at the Speedway: traffic patterns greatly improved the fan experience, guest services and offerings increased, sports car and go karting events were added and a major green initiative was introduced. Curtis, 49, is a 30-year veteran of leadership in motorsports.
