Afternoon Showers, Cooling for the Weekend

Cooler weather is expected through the weekend and in fact through at least the first half of next week too. A cold front will come through the area today and may trigger a few showers and thunderstorms from midday into late afternoon. Tonight and Saturday we have a large Canadian Polar high pressure area that edges into our area. This will bring much cooler temperatures, tonights low will be in the 50s and highs Saturday only in the 70s. A frontal system moves through the area late Saturday night into Sunday bringing showers and a few thunderstorms. High pressure once again follows that system so cooler temperatures are expected Monday too. Today A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. West northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming north in the morning. Tonight Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. North northeast wind 10 to 13 mph. Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 73. North northeast wind around 8 mph. Saturday Night A 20 percent chance of showers after 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 56. Events of June 1, 2, and 3, 2018

June 1 Jackson District Library Summer Reading Kick-Off.   Jackson District Library’s annual summer reading program kicks off today, within all 13 branches of the district. Preregistration is now available online at www.myjdl.com/beanstack, while in-person registration begins June 1 at all JDL locations.  The two-month program encourages children, teenagers and adults of all ages to continue to read throughout the summer months and continues to be one of the library’s most popular programs. This year’s theme is Libraries Rock!, with a number of events and activities that work within that structure.  All  library branches will host numerous events to celebrate, including live performances, concerts and more.  The Jackson YMCA presents Outdoor Summer Fun, free events for members and the community.  Yoga at the Farmer’s Market.  9 AM to 10 AM.  Meet at Grand River Farmer’s Market. Jackson College Garage Sale.  Find a deal for office or home today and tomorrow outside the Campus Services Building on the east side of Central Campus.  A variety of items will be for sale, including used office furniture such as desks, chairs, cabinets, filing cabinets, bookshelves and more;  computer keyboards, monitors, and hard drives; miscellaneous classroom instructional equipment and other office items.  Rain or…
