Jackson County Health Department Vaccine and COVID Update
(March 31, 2021 6:25 PM) The Jackson County Health Department (JCHD) reported today a total of 67,605 COVID vaccination doses have been administered to Jackson County residents, with 26,830 residents fully vaccinated (receiving 2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna or 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson). As of today, 20.8% of county residents over the age of 16 have completed their doses and 33% have had their initial dose. JCHD also released figures today that show Jackson County has a 14.7% seven-day positivity rate, compared with 13.3% statewide. The health department said there are a total of 28 COVID variant cases in Jackson County. Current trends in Jackson include an increase in school-age individuals, as well as those residents in the 30-50 age group. The department continues to see a spread of the B 1.1.7 and B 1.351 variant, which are more transmissible. Earlier this month, the Michigan Department of Human Services reported the first Michigan case of the COVID-19 variant B.1.351 was identified in a male child living in Jackson County.
