Jackson County Cumulative Report: 20,286 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 325 Deaths

(October 21, 2021 12:00 PM)  The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 20,286 positive cases (cumulative), and 325 deaths (cumulative)*.   There are 88 new cases since yesterday’s report. The Jackson County Health Department has announced a change in reporting effective Oct. 6, 2021.  Cases defined as probable will be reported in cumulative case and death counts.  As additional methods of testing besides the PCR test have become more common, the amount of cases classified as probable has increased and are included to provide a more accurate picture of disease in our community.  As of October 20, there are 32 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.  Cumulative recovered, as of October 21: 17,967** The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category and reported by the state at Michigan Statistics. Extreme Dodge Jackson County Sports Scoreboard Oct. 20, 2021

Football Richmond at Western: Due to the referee shortage, the varsity football game between Richmond and Western has been moved to today (Thursday), with a 5:30 p.m. kickoff at WHS. Both teams probably need a win to get into the Michigan High School Athletic Association football playoffs next week or improve their playoff seeding. Western is No. 27 in Division 3 at 5-3, and Richmond is 4-4 and No. 28 in Division 5. The top 32 teams in each division earn playoff spots based on a point system. Bronson at Hanover-Horton: This game has also been changed to today (Thursday) due to lack of officials. The Big 8/Cascades Conference crossover game will start at 7 p.m.    Volleyball Columbia Central 3, Clinton 0: The Golden Eagles defeated Clinton in a makeup match on Wednesday at home. CCHS won 25-17, 25-20, and 25-17 in LCAA action.  Coldwater 3, Lumen Christi 1 Western 3, Harper Creek 2: Western won the match on Volley for Hope night at home, 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 22-25, and 15-12.
