JDL storytimes offer age-appropriate books, music, and activities for babies, toddlers, families, and young children. Most importantly, they help develop everyone’s imaginations! (October 25, 2021 4:45 PM) The Jackson District Library will host its 34th annual Storyfest throughout Jackson County beginning November 1. The week-long event will feature some of the most talented and renowned storytellers from across the United States, and culminate in a finale showcase performance on Nov. 5 at Weatherwax Hall in downtown Jackson. The week-long event begins Monday, Nov. 1, when storytellers including Larry Castleberry, La’Ron Williams, Laura Raynor, and Jenifer Strauss will share their storytelling talents both in-person and virtually with 35 area schools, for students in grades Pre-K through 12th grade. "This year’s theme for Storyfest – Storytelling Through the Arts – captures the many fun and creative forms of storytelling, " JDL Director Sara Tackett said, "from spoken word to song and dance. We are excited to partner with local organizations and professional storytellers to bring a unique storytelling experience to the Jackson-area community." On Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 11 AM, area residents are invited to attend a free public performance by Cynthia Shelhart at the Ella Sharp Museum Community Room, located at 3225 4th Street in Jackson.
