Extreme Dodge Jackson County Scoreboard Feb. 28, 2022

Boys basketball Napoleon 53, Grass Lake 37: Napoleon improved to 17-2 with the home victory. Brayden Lape led Grass Lake with 14 points in the game. The Warriors are 5-13 on the season.  Springport 58, Addison 49: Springport earned its first win of the season with a win over the Panthers. The Spartans are 1-17 overall for 2021-2022.  Girls district basketball Division 1 at Mason Northwest 70, Jackson 32: Mara Mitchell scored 36 points and dished five assists in the MHSAA Division 1 district win. She was one point away from the school record for points in the game.  Ashley Weller finished with 20 points and seven rebounds for Northwest (15-6). Jackson scored the first five points of the second half to pull within seven points, but Northwest went on a 23-1 run in the third quarter. The Mounties will face Western on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the D-1 district semifinal at Mason High School. Jackson (5-12) was led by Maya Pierce with 14 points.  Division 3 at Homer Concord 33,  Hanover-Horton 30: Jamiya Rogers had a steal and two free throws in the final minute to help the Yellow Jackets earn a Division 3 district win at Homer…

Michigan Reports 1,860* Coronavirus Cases, State Total Now 2,056,751

(February 28, 2022 3:27 PM)  Michigan reported 1,860* coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 2,056,751. Michigan is reporting 26 COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 31,817.   *Note on cases (02/28/2022): Today's daily case count represents new referrals of confirmed cases to the MDSS since the last web update report.  Over the three days (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday), the average number of new confirmed cases is 620 per day. Information is updated Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m.

Jackson County Cumulative Report: 39,053 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 522 Deaths

(February 28, 2022 12:00 PM)  The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 39,053 positive cases (cumulative), and 522 deaths (cumulative)*.   There are 33 new cases since Friday’s report.  The Jackson County Health Department has announced a change in reporting effective Oct. 6, 2021.  Cases defined as probable will be reported in cumulative case and death counts.  As additional methods of testing besides the PCR test have become more common, the amount of cases classified as probable has increased and are included to provide a more accurate picture of disease in our community.  Cumulative recovered, as of February 28:  37,125** The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category and reported by the state at Michigan Statistics.
