Two’s Day Art Exhibition.  As a nod to the Universe's punny coincidence of 2/22/22 falling on a Tuesday, we put together the Two's Day Art Exhibition.  Explore two of the many sides of art with two floors of masterpieces created by 22 Michigan artists.1st floor, 2 years and up, family friendly.  2nd floor, "22 years and up", exploring censorship in art.  This exhibit will run for 2 weeks,     daily  from 9:22am - 6:22pm.  Art 634, 634 North Mechanic Street, Jackson. Dibble Teachers, Students Donate More than $3,000 to Animal Shelter

By Jeff Steers JTV News (February 22, 2022 5:17 PM) Pizza, pets, and pants came together for a sizeable donation to the Jackson County Animal Shelter on Tuesday. And teachers, parents, and students all helped. Students, teachers, and parents from Dibble Elementary School spent December and January raising money and purchasing pet supplies for the Jackson County Animal Shelter.  The result was a check for $2,665.90 and hundreds more in pet supplies for the shelter.  The project was part of the Sunshine Club at Dibble. In December, teachers paid $20 for an addition jean day to raise money for the shelter. Students went to work in January by bringing in change and pet supplies. The two top classes with the most donations earned a pizza party for their efforts. The fundraiser was organized by fifth grade teacher Jennifer Hause. “I knew that I wanted to spearhead the effort because for the love of pets by the students,” Hause said. “I also adopted my cat, Miracle, from the shelter.” Hause said students also brought…

JTV Sports Quick Focus: Wrestling Teaches Tobey To Keep Going in Life

By Jeff Steers JTV Sports (February 22, 2022 4:58 PM) Jackson High School wrestler Natalie Tobey said she has felt “defeated” at times in sports over the years. Then she found wrestling. And through the trials and tribulations of six-minute matches, tough practices, and the mental and physical strain of wrestling she has found a sport that teaches her not to give up. That all paid off on Saturday as Tobey qualified for the Michigan High School Athletic Association state wrestling finals by placing fifth at the regional tournament at Hartland High School last weekend. She finished fifth in the 155 pound weight class. Two regional tournaments were held – Hartland and Howell – and the top eight in each weight class moved on to the state tournament. This is the first MHSAA state wrestling tournament for girls only. “This makes me feel special and glad to be part of it before I graduated,” Tobey said of being a state qualifier in the first MHSAA state-sponsored tournament. “No other sport pushes me, relieves stress, and makes me stronger as a person.” Tobey began wrestling at the urging of a friend in ninth grade. Jackson College Announces New Keynote Speaker for March 19 King Celebration

(February 22, 2022 4:19 PM) Jackson College today announced Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom, senior vice president for community health and equity and chief wellness and diversity officer for Henry Ford Health System, will be the keynote speaker for the 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, rescheduled for March 19. Wisdom has been a board-certified emergency medicine physician for 30 years and chair of the Gail and Lois Warden Endowment on Multicultural Health. She provides strong leadership in diversity, population health, and the improvement of the health of those disproportionately affected by poor health outcomes. In 2003, Gov. Jennifer Granholm appointed Wisdom the nation’s first state-level surgeon general. In 2012, President Barack Obama appointed Wisdom to serve on the Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health. She focuses on health care equity, infant mortality/maternal and child health, chronic disease, physical inactivity, unhealthy eating habits, and tobacco use. She founded the award-winning program African American Initiative for Male Health Improvement and the Women-Inspired Neighborhood Network: Detroit to reduce infant mortality. As Michigan Surgeon General, she founded the nationally known Generation with Promise program, a youth leadership empowerment, nutrition education and physical activity promotion effort now housed at Henry…
