Michigan is reporting 312** COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 31,695. *Note on cases (02/23/2022): Today's daily case count represents new referrals of confirmed cases to the MDSS since the last web update report on Friday, February 18th. Over the past five days (Saturday through Wednesday), the average number of new confirmed cases is ~1,186 per day. **The deaths announced today includes 250 deaths identified during a Vital Records review. (February 23, 2022 12:00 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County. As of 12:00 PM today, there are 38,972 positive cases (cumulative), and 521 deaths (cumulative)*. There are 15 new cases and 3 new deaths since Friday’s report. As of February 21, there are 13 persons being treated as inpatients for COVID-19 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health. The Jackson County Health Department has announced a change in reporting effective Oct. 6, 2021. Cases defined as probable will be reported in cumulative case and death counts. As additional methods of testing besides the PCR test have become more common, the amount of cases classified as probable has increased and are included to provide a more accurate picture of disease in our community. Boys basketball Napoleon 85, Manchester 53: All 12 players scored for the Pirates, led by Zach Johnson with 10 points and Jason Negus and Holden VanPoppel each scoring nine points apiece. Napoleon is 14-2 overall with the victory. Reading 60, Concord 57: The Yellow Jackets had a shot at tying the game in the final seconds. Graeley Sprague scored 30 points, Mehki Wingfield scored 11 points, and Isaac Waldron finished with 10 points for Concord. Both teams are tied in the Big Eight Conference with three losses.
