Bubbleman at Grass Lake. 11 AM. Presented by the Jackson District Library, Grass Lake Branch. Join us to create volcano bubbles, tornado bubbles, kaleidoscope bubbles, square bubbles and more! This event will be held at George Long Elementary. On Two Wheels Monday Evening MTB Ride with Pat. 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. This is an On Two Wheels sanctioned MTB ride hosted by Pat. The meeting location will be the Museum Parking lot at Ella Sharp Park. Helmets are REQUIRED for all riders. All skill riders are welcome. Any questions can be directed towards the shop at 517-789-6077. Grateful Monday with Mike. 6 PM. Every third Monday of the month, we will be playing a recording of an entire Grateful Dead concert and groovin' on some of the best live music ever performed. Applegate Improves to Earn State Golf Medal
By Jeff Steers JTV Sports (June 19, 2022 8:00 AM) Hanover-Horton High School senior Brady Applegate said a friend told him he was one stroke up heading into the final hole of the Cascades Conference tournament during the finals in May. Applegate proceeded to par the hole by keeping the ball in play and relying on his putter. That improvement has shown up this season for the HHHS golfer. Applegate tied for 10th on June 11 at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 state golf tournament at the Fortress Golf Course. He finished with rounds of 73 and 81 to tie for the last medal spot in the tournament. The Fortress, in Frankenmuth, is one of the newer golf courses in the rotation for the MHSAA. “The course is really tight and the greens are faster than anything I have played before,” Applegate said. “I played my butt off on Friday to shoot a 73.” Hanover-Horton finished 14th as a team out of 18 teams, but should have the same nucleus of golfers back in 2023. Lysher Earns Medalist Honors at Lyle Ambs Qualifying
Cody Lysher shot a 3-under-par 68 at Sharp Park Golf Course during qualifying for the Lyle Ambs Tournament. By Jeff Steers JTV Sports (June 18, 2022 4:25 PM) Cody Lysher shot a 3-under-par 68 at Sharp Park Golf Course to earn medalist honors at the annual Lyle Ambs Memorial Golf Tournament. Lysher will be joined by defending champion Scott Denig and 14 other golfers in the championship flight with match-play rounds starting next Saturday morning. John Tarpley shot a 2-under-par 69, and J.T. Pickering and Mike Raymond shot 1-under-par 71s. Pete Walz finished with a 73; Chris Chaney, Mike Boldt, Zach Boorom and Tim Pickering shot 74s; Conor Spencer, John Gaston, and Colin O’Connell finished with 75s; Cannon Risner shot a 76; and Brian Strickrodt and Doug Bevan grabbed the final two championship flight spots with 77s. Two rounds will be played on Saturday and the semifinals and finals are scheduled for next Sunday. Golfers Bryan Marvin (78); Brady Applegate and Justin Bunch (79); Nick Henman (82); Ray Hill (84); Matt Brown (85); and Patrick Dwyer (86) will make up the first flight in the annual tournament at Sharp Park.
