A member of the Michigan Vietnam Replica Wall escort motorcade thanks veterans for their service as the wall is delivered and set up at James J. Keeley Park. By Jeff Steers JTV News (August 7, 2022 4:13 PM) That rumble heard across northern Jackson County on Sunday morning was a personal escort. More than 200 motorcycles escorted the Michigan Vietnam Replica Wall to the American 1 Events Center at the James J. Keeley Park in front of the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The replica wall honors the 2,662 Michigan residents killed in action in Vietnam. Organizer David Welihan said AT&T paid for the wall to be displayed for four days at the fair. A fundraiser by the Jackson County Veterans Council will keep the display at the American 1 Events Center all week. A total of 54 Jackson County residents were killed in Vietnam. The display includes a book that gives the names and hometowns of those killed in Vietnam. It also notes the location of the name on the 30-foot wall.  The Jackson County Fair runs now through next Saturday with a number of special offers for children and seniors. (August 7, 2022 10:23 AM) Lexi Warchock was the winner of the 2022 Miss Jackson County RoseQueen Pageant Saturday night at the Michigan Theatre.  Warchock, Miss True Community Credit Union, is a graduate of Napoleon High School and has a dual degree in Bioengineering and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan Dearborn.   Seven contestants vying for RoseQueen competed in the pageant along with  3 contestants for Miss Jackson County Teen USA. First runner up was Morgan Bell and second runner up was Morgann Brafford.  Warchock won the talent award with her circus-inspired acrobatics routine.  Miss Congeniality was Caitlin Brys, People’s Choice as voted by the audience was won by Morgan Bell. In the Teen competition, Madi O’Neal won the crown as Miss Jackson County Teen USA.  O’Neal is a student at Lumen Christi Catholic School. Educational scholarships and other prizes were awarded in the completion that included talent, evening wear, activewear, and interview questions.

Peyton Lowder of Jackson was named  the Miss Jackson Crossroads scholarship pageant winner on Saturday at Western High School. Photo by Jeff Steers, JTV. By Jeff Steers JTV News (August 6, 2022 10:48 PM) Soon-to-be Jackson College student Peyton Lowder used her pageant experience to win the Miss Jackson Crossroads scholarship pageant at Western High School on Saturday. Lowder was the Miss Jackson Crossroads Outstanding Teen in 2017 and earned four more titles since.  She was named the Miss Jackson Crossroads winner on Saturday and will represent Jackson in the Miss Michigan in June 0f 2023. Lowder sang opera for her talent and will use her title to bring attention to her social impact initiative of Eating Disorder Education Network.  She earned a $2,000 educational scholarship by winning the title. Jade Sayles of Jackson was named as the runner-up for Miss Jackson Crossroads, earning a $750 educational scholarship. Kenadie Mlujeak earned the Miss Jackson Crossroads Outstanding Teen title and Marilyn Powell was the runner-up in the scholarship pageant.
