Consumers Energy Thanks Customers After Ice Storm: ‘We Have All Hands on Deck. We Are Restoring Power’

(February 24, 2023 11:52 AM) Consumers Energy’s president and CEO thanked customers for their patience this morning as over 500 crews from Michigan and four other states continued their round-the-clock work to restore power after this week’s devastating Michigan ice storm. As of 11 a.m., crews have restored power to nearly one third of some 250,000 affected homes and businesses.  Approximately 15,000 Jackson County customers have been restored, 44,279 remain without power as of late this morning.  “I want to thank those customers who were impacted by this ice storm. Power outages are certainly frustrating, and I appreciate and thank you for your patience,” said President and CEO Garrick Rochow. “We have all hands on deck for this restoration effort. That means we have over 500 crews, or more than 1,500 people, in the field, supported by hundreds of people behind the scenes working to restore customers.” Crews from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Virginia are part of the restoration effort, moving across southern Michigan communities that were blanketed with up to a half-inch of ice. Consumers Energy also will be starting helicopter inspections today to assess damage, including 8,000-plus downed wires, in the hardest-hit areas. VIDEO: Consumers Energy’s president and…

Extreme Dodge Jackson County Scoreboard February 23, 2023

Two Jackson-area Teams Fall in Hockey Regional Semifinals By Jeff Steers JTV Sports Both Lumen Christi and Jackson United should have saved some goals from Tuesday night for Thursday night’s regional hockey action. But it does not work that way.  Lumen Christi lost 3-1 to Orchard Lake St. Mary in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 hockey semifinal earlier in the afternoon on Thursday at Chelsea.  Lumen scored in the second period, but Orchard Lake responded with three goals of its own to advance to the regional final against Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard next Wednesday.  The Titans finished with second with an 18-9 record and its second consecutive South Central Hockey League title.  Lumen Christi scored seven times in its opening game of the tournament. Jackson enjoyed a 9-0 laugher in its first tournament game Tuesday but came up against a hot goalie against Cap City – a co-op team from Lansing consisting of players from DeWitt, Grand Ledge, Lansing Catholic, Williamston, Laingsburg, and Mason. Cap City Goalie Gavin Kashenider stopped all  19 shots in a 3-0 win over Jackson United at Munn Ice Arena on the campus of Michigan State University Thursday evening.  Max Tyler scored a…
