Boys Golf East Jackson Invitational: Northwest High School won the East Jackson Invitational at Sharp Park Golf Course on a cold and rainy day. The Mounties shot a 323, Hanover-Horton finished second with 326, Western was third scoring 332, Jackson scored 343, Napoleon placed seven with 369, Grass Lake was 11th with 390, Columbia Central shot 391, and East Jackson placed 15th at 444. Hanover-Horton, Northwest, and Western dominated the top 10 individually with seven of the spots. Brady Applegate and Cody Rowe  tied for medalist honors with 77, Hayden Kim of Western tied for fifth with Jake Brafford of Northwest and Hoyt Wrona of Hanover-Horton with 79s, Eric Bonser of Western tied for eighth scoring 80, and Ryder Pickering of Hanover-Horton was 10th scoring 82.  Lumen Christi at Mason Invitational: Lumen Christi won the Mason Invitational at Forest Akers West with a four-man total of 321 to defeat Holt by four strokes. LCCHS teammates Brendan Stevens and Charlie Saunders tied for fourth with 77s.   Girls track and field Concord Union City: Concord finished eighth with 18 points in Union City. Jackson Celebrates Arbor Day with Tree Plantings

By Jeff Steers JTV News (April 28, 2023 9:45 PM ET) Jacob Inosencio from the City of Jackson Environmental Commission said the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best, he said, it today.  So that is what he and more than a dozen citizens did during the Arbor Day Celebration event at 1104 Maple Ave in Jackson. This event was a collaborative event between the Environmental Commission, Young People of Purpose, and Grow Jackson. The Environmental Commission has been working towards an application for Tree City USA designation and among the four requirements to apply, an annual Arbor Day Celebration is one of the necessary components. The other three requirements are a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, and a community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita. Inosencio said the Environmental Commission is working toward the other three requirements to make Jackson a Tree City USA member.  Arbor day is a day for planting and…

County National Bank Announces Promotions and New Team Member Joseph R. Williams, President and CEO of County National Bank, is pleased to announce the recent promotions of three CNB team members and the addition of a commercial lender. Ron Haber has been promoted to Regional Vice President – Commercial Loan Officer. Ron joined CNB in June of 2005 as 2nd Vice President – Commercial Loans for our Lenawee market. Ron has been in banking for over 44 years and has developed many key business relationships that have resulted in the steady growth of his loan portfolio. He is very active in the Hudson Community and Lenawee County through many different organizations and looks forward to increasing his involvement in Hillsdale County. Kelly Lantis has been promoted to Vice President – Hillsdale Market Executive & Commercial Credit Officer. Kelly joined CNB in 1988 and currently manages the Credit Department, which she helped establish in 1988. Jackson College Announces All-Michigan Academic Team Honorees

(April 28, 2023 9:41 AM ET) Jackson College announced four Jackson College students have been named to the Phi Theta Kappa All-Michigan Academic Team.  Winners were recognized at a recent lunch ceremony in Lansing hosted by Michigan Community College Association and PTK member institutions. Jackson College students recognized include: Jenifer LaHuis, student since 2021 and member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. With a passion for helping people, LaHuis has focused her studies in allied health with the academic goal to achieve a degree in sonography. She returned to college after a 30-year break through the Michigan Futures for Frontliners program, which she says allowed her to gain the confidence she needed to prove to herself that she can do whatever it takes to accomplish her goals. Tera Faber began her studies at Jackson College as a dual-enrolled high school student and enrolled full-time in 2020. She played soccer during her first year while taking prerequisites to apply to the nursing program. By the end of the soccer season, she was nominated as captain, Most Valuable Player, and received awards for Honorable Mention All-Conference and Second-Team All-Region. She is currently finishing her third semester of the nursing program and when…
