The Green Market at Henry Ford.  Summer outdoor market:  Thursdays 9 AM – 2 PM. Corner of E. Mich. Ave. & Waterloo St., Jackson.  We focus on natural, sustainable Michigan produce and products.  All foods and products sold at The Green Market at Henry Ford Allegiance Health are grown and/or produced in Michigan using little or no pesticides, herbicides, inorganic fertilizers, or antibiotics.  This means healthier foods for the greater Jackson community and less pollution for our rivers and lakes. Update: No Hazards to Residents Found in Building Fire Debris

(August 23, 2023 5:38 PM ET) The City of Jackson continues to respond to the impacts of a large fire at a commercial building that happened the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 22 at a vacant commercial building on W. North Street. The fire sent massive amounts of ash and debris into the air, which later descended on properties in the northwest area of the City of Jackson. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and State of Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) had field representatives in the City of Jackson on Wednesday, August 23 to assess any potential environmental impacts from the fire. Tests from both the EPA and EGLE confirmed that debris that fell on properties from the fire does not contain any hazardous materials. The EPA says residents may dispose of ash and debris from properties as they see fit. Field representatives tested debris near the commercial property on W. North Street and found asbestos. Because of this, W. North Street will continue to be closed to traffic and pedestrians until the immediate area around the fire-damaged property is cleaned up. Panthers Football Team Is Hungry Headed Into 2023

By David Rice JTV Sports (August 23, 2023 2:00 PM ET) The late playoff loss in the 4th quarter of last season has left the Western Panthers hungry to do more this upcoming 2023 campaign. Western finished 6-4 last year, making a sixth straight playoff appearance (7th in 8 years), and lost by a heartbreaking one point to Jackson late in the game. With the Panthers returning lots of players, they look to compete for an Interstate 8 conference title. They come into the year with approximately 90 players total in the program and will carry a freshman team. Third year head Coach Nick Rulewicz will rely on lots of experience but will also have new players in some parts of the field, including incoming junior Reed Myers at QB. Parma Western returns both eight on offense and defense, including four of five on the offensive line. Strength and Conditioning coach Logan Kelley has also been a big contributor for the ‘Panther Championship Series’, which rewards players for community service, workouts/team activities, and honor roll.
