Friday, August 30 Voter Education Event. 11 AM to 1 PM. Jackson College Center Voter Education Event. City voter education event at the YPOP Community Garden on Friday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. Hosted by Ward 1 City Councilmember Arlene Robinson, State Senator Sue Shink, the League of Women Voters Jackson area, and Young People of Purpose (YPOP) leader Diane Washington. The event will cover everything voters need to know about participating in the upcoming election, including voting rights, early voting, absentee ballots and registering to vote. There will also be an emphasis on educating younger voters. The event is free to attend. Refreshments will be available, with Senator Shink donating pizza and RJ’s Metropolitan Ice Cream Co. providing ice cream. The YPOP Community Garden is located at 1107 Maple St., Jackson.
