(10-31-2025, 11:30PM): Here are the scores from Friday night’s opening round of the MHSAA football playoffs from the Jackson-area teams:

DIVISION 5: 

Michigan Center 50, Romulus 14: QB Hadyn Hinkle finished 10/18 passing for 154 yards and 6 TDs (1 rush) to lead the Cardinals. Tre Collins added 72 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. Michigan Center is now 9-1 and travels to Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard next Friday for the district final.

DIVISION 6:

Lumen Christi 59, Onsted 7: Lumen Christi rushed for nearly 500 yards total as a team on Friday. Freshman Ayden Gatewood ran for 146 yards and a TD. Sean Walicki rushed for 2 touchdowns. LC improves to 7-3 overall.

Napoleon 26, Buchanan 20: Brenten Owen led the Pirates rushing attack with 2 touchdowns. Napoleon travels to Lumen Christi next Friday at 7pm for a Division 6 district championship. These two teams last met in the 2023 district final and the 2022 state semifinals.

DIVISION 7:

Hanover Horton 44, Union City 6: Austyn Hocter and Lukas NaDell each ran for 2 touchdowns to lead the Comets, JJ Russ and Kolin Griffiths also each ran for a TD. Adam Ley led the defense with 11 tackles and Lukas NaDell added 10 stops. Hanover Horton is now 8-2 overall and hosts Bronson next Friday for a chance at the Comets first district championship in program history.

Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central 27, Leslie 2

DIVISION 8:

Springport 47, Manchester 8: Kaden Woyame rushed for 3 touchdowns for the Spartans, and Easton Merrill added 142 yards for 2 TDs. Springport is now 10-0 and hosts New Lothrop next Friday for a Division 8 district championship.
