Endless Feast Dinner

13.1% or 13,180 people living in Lenawee County experience “food insecurity” in their everyday lives; among children in Lenawee County, the number is even higher, with 21.1% or 5,010 kids experiencing “food insecurity”. (Feeding America: Map the Meal Gap 2013) Food insecurity is not exclusive to Lenawee County, however, the solutions lie with those of us who live and work here. To this end, a group of committed volunteers have created an event to raise money to help end childhood hunger in Lenawee County. The Endless Feast, a grassroots endeavor to bring people together to support efforts to end childhood hunger in Lenawee County, will take place for the first time on Thursday, August 6, 2015. Limited seating is available for the dinner, featuring locally sourced foods prepared by Chef Alan Merhar from Evans Street Station in an outdoor waterfront setting at Tecumseh’s Globe Mill Pond. Purchasing a seat at the Endless Feast table will help bring awareness to the plight of local children who don’t have enough to eat. The following programs will be supported with proceeds raised from this event: Communities in Schools of the Tecumseh Area (CISTA) currently runs the Friday Food Packs project for underserved elementary…

NASCAR makes changes to the qualifying format at MIS

BROOKLYN, Mich. (July 15, 2015) — NASCAR informed NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams on Wednesday that it plans to use its superspeedway qualifying format at Michigan International Speedway in August. “We applaud NASCAR for its willingness and commitment to make the competition stronger throughout the year by its continued improvement for the betterment of the sport,” track President Roger Curtis said. “Given the proximity to the start of The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, the Pure Michigan 400 will already be a race of high drama and excitement. And I’m sure race fans will be in for a fantastic race weekend full of emotion, speed and even better racing at Michigan International Speedway. “Qualifying with this format ensures the fastest cars are up front – and that’s just what you need at a two-mile racetrack like Michigan International Speedway.” The new format is as follows: Two rounds of qualifying, with the top-12 posted lap speeds advancing to the second round Race vehicles taking one, timed lap in each round of qualifying Each race vehicle will be released in a predetermined timed interval as determined by NASCAR, with the sanctioning body reserving the right to have more than one vehicle…
