Ride of Silence.  6:45 PM. The Cascades Cycling Club will host the Ride of Silence on Wednesday, May 20 at 6:45 pm starting from Horace Blackman Park in downtown Jackson. The ride will be an 8 mile “slow roll” through town to pay our respects to riders who have been injured or killed while cycling, and to remind motorists and city officials of our right to ride on public streets. This will be a police-escorted ride. Please join us for this is a free event. T-shirts commemorating the ride will be provided while supplies last. Plan to arrive at Horace Blackman Park in downtown Jackson by 6:45 pm as the ride will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Helmets are required. Jackson Audubon Society Birdathon.  The Jackson Audubon Society will be participating in the2026 Michigan Audubon Birdathon. This is a 24-hour marathon birding event held at Haehnle Sanctuary. The goal is to have the JAS team count as many species on the property in one day as possible. This fundraising event of Michigan Audubon will pass along a portion of the proceeds to Jackson Audubon Society. Online donations can be made for the JAS team. What I learned About Japan from Manga.  5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.  Manga is a Japanese style of graphic novel known for its fun and unique visual style. Like other forms of media, it can also serve as a wonderful introduction to other cultures. In this program, we will explore the different cultural touchstones found in Manga and their significance to Japan. Michigan Theatre Lawsuit Settled

(May 13, 2026 11:35 AM ET) Curtis, Curtis & Brelinski, P.C., attorneys for the 56 plaintiff members of The Michigan Theatre of Jackson lawsuit, announced today the successful resolution of the recent lawsuit regarding the Theatre's leadership and governance.  In a press release, the firm said the settlement marks a new, unified chapter for the historic downtown landmark, prioritizing transparency, accountability, and a renewed commitment to the members of the Theatre and the Jackson community. According to the release, the settlement terms include the following changes, which have been implemented: The resignations of board members Nancy Whitmore and Kathryn Snyder have been accepted by the Board of Directors. To guide the Theatre through the transition, the Board has filled all positions to include 15 directors to allow for a wide range of input and direction from the community. This includes the appointment of eight business, nonprofit, and community leaders: Rebecca Armstrong, John Butterfield, Richard Collins, Philip J. Curtis, Ronald Ellison, Martha Fuerstenau, John Macchia Jr., and Hattie Oliver. Within 90 days, the interim Board will call a Special Meeting of the Theatre’s members.
