Michigan Reports 7,108* Coronavirus Cases, State Total Now 1,097,129

(October 20, 2021 3:04 PM) Michigan reported 7,108* coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 1,097,129. Michigan is reporting 135** COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 21,744.    *Note on cases (10/20/2021): Today's daily case count represents new referrals of confirmed cases to the MDSS since the last web update report.  Over the two days (Tuesday and Wednesday), the average number of new confirmed cases is 3554 per day. **The deaths announced today includes 78 deaths identified during a Vital Records review. See cumulative data page for more information. State Cumulative Total of Recovered COVID-19 Cases (as of 10/15/21): 962,955. Information is updated Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m.

Jackson County Cumulative Report: 20,198 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 325 Deaths

(October 20, 2021 12:00 PM)  The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 20,198 positive cases (cumulative), and 325 deaths (cumulative)*.   There are 100 new cases and 2 new deaths since yesterday’s report. The Jackson County Health Department has announced a change in reporting effective Oct. 6, 2021.  Cases defined as probable will be reported in cumulative case and death counts.  As additional methods of testing besides the PCR test have become more common, the amount of cases classified as probable has increased and are included to provide a more accurate picture of disease in our community.  As of October 20, there are 32 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.  Cumulative recovered, as of October 20: 17,899** The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category and reported by the state at Michigan Statistics. Extreme Dodge Jackson County Sports Scoreboard Oct. 19, 2021

Volleyball Fowlerville 3, Northwest 0: Peach Kennedy and Piper Darrow both had 12 digs for the Mounties. Teja Kapp recorded nine kills for Northwest.  Columbia Central 3, Ida 0: The Golden Eagles kept pace in the Lenawee County Athletic Association with a sweep of Ida. CCHS is now 9-1 in the LCAA.  Napoleon 3, Grass Lake 1: The Pirates will be the No. 1 seed in the Cascades Conference tournament next week following a win over Grass Lake. The Warriors were 5-1 heading into the contest with a chance to tie for first place. Momo Hampton had 27 assists and 22 digs for Napoleon. Samantha Conaway finished with 10 kills, Elisse Omey tallied eight blocks, and Kaitlyn Pequet recorded 15 service points for Napoleon (19-2-2).  Olivia Turner had 30 digs and nine kills and Ruby Johnson led the Warriors with 12 kills.  Concord 3, Jonesville 1: The Yellow Jackets will enter the Big 8 Conference Tournament on Saturday with only one conference loss following the win.
