Boys Basketball

Concord 68, Hanover-Horton 57: Jett Smith scored 26 points, Mekhi Wingfield added 23 points, and Connor Stevens finished with 12 points for Concord (13-4).  

Wrestling Team District

Division 1 at Holt: Jackson High School defeated Lansing Everett in the semifinal match 66-15. The Vikings lost to Grand Ledge 59-18 in the Division 1 District final at Holt High School. Antonio Williams (157) and Curtis Winters (285) recorded a pair of pins for the Vikings on the night. 

Division 2 at Western: Northwest High School defeated Marshall 63-15 in the semifinal round and defeated Western 42-33 in the district final. The Panthers advanced to the finals by defeating Charlotte 64-15. Northwest advances to the D-2 regional round against the winner of the Harper Creek district. After Western won the first two match of the final, Northwest reeled off eight consecutive wins to take the match. Franklin Banister (106), Kayden Beach (126), Evan Beuerle (132), Blaine Anspaugh (138), and Jeff Miller (144) earned pins for the Mounties in the final at Western High School. Aidan Duncan (215), Ronald London (285), Titan Parker (157), Alexander White (165), and Alex Trudell (190) pinned Northwest opponents in the match. 

Division 3 at Michigan Center: Napoleon High School defeated Columbia Central 60-9 and Michigan Center 49-15 to earn another district title. Michigan Center defeated Grass Lake to advance to the finals at home on Wednesday. Carson Lovett (215), Dallas Smith (285), Logan Hartman (126), Brayden Maher (138), and Ashton Warner (150) won by pins for Napoleon in the final against MCHS. Tobin Reimers earned the only pin for the Cardinals at 113 pounds against the Pirates. Ashton Bristow (132), George Masters (144), and Andrew Beadonkopf (165) all went 2-0 on the night for the Cardinals. Napoleon advances to the D-3 regionals next Wednesday against Eaton Rapids.  

Division 4 at Vandercook Lake: Hanover-Horton High School defeated Vandercook Lake 54-6 in the semifinal round but lost to Addison 45-33 in the district final. David Fielder (126), A.J. Fielder (132), and Owen Brown (138) earned pins for the Comets in the championship match.

Competitive Cheer

Interstate-8 Final at Hastings: Northwest High School finished second and Western was fifth in the I-8 finals at Hastings High School. The Mounties finished with a three-round total of 652 and Western scored 573. Hastings won the event with a score of 711. 

Boys Bowling

East Jackson 27, Vandercook Lake 3: Doug Lysher bowled a 254 game Gauge Parshall finished with a 191 game for the Trojans. Vandercook Lake was led by Kyle Trajnowski with a 181 game. 

Tecumseh 28, Jackson 2

Girls Bowling

East Jackson 16, Vandercook Lake 14: Dominic Hemry finished with a 154 game to lead East Jackson. Marissa Dahn led VCL with a 306 series. 

Tecumseh 29, Jackson 1

Hockey

Cap City 4, Lumen Christi 3: Cap City scored five minutes into the third period and held on for the win. Jake King, Iasiah Dinverno, and Brodie Gregory scored golf for the Titans. 

Gymnastics

Jackson Area Gymnastics 134.525, Adrian 126.525: JAG remained undefeated in conference play with the road win. Melody Placeway won the bars (8.275), the floor (9.275), and the all-around (35.125. Addi Richmond won the vault (9.225), the beam (8.95), and was second in the all-around (34.575). Maya Mroczkowski of Northwest was third in the bars with 7.7. 

College Athletic Events

Women’s Basketball

Jackson College 93, Oakland CC 58: The Jets improved to 18-3 on the season with the home win Wednesday. Kaylona Butler finished with 23 points, Zoie Bamm tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds, Jayla Edwards scored a dozen points, and Michelle McGee added 11 points and four steals for JC. The Jets are now 6-1 in the MCCAA and will travel to Wayne County CC Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip. 

Indiana Wesleyan 81, Spring Arbor 44: Wesleyan outscored the Cougars 50-26 in the second half to pull away. Sydney Aunins finished with 11 points and Alana Nelson scored nine points and pulled down eight rebounds for SAU (18-5 overall, 9-4 Crossroads League). 

Men’s Basketball

Jackson College 106, Oakland CC 80: The Jets scored over the century mark for the first time this season and improved to 10-12 with the home victory. Six players scored in double digits led by Antonio King with 17 points and seven assists. Xavier Ford-Belton and Jay Wambere each scored 16 points, Kamerin Carter scored 15 points, Jo Coleman finished with 13 points, and Cooper Johnston added 10 points for JC. The Jets travel to Wayne County CC Saturday for a 3 p.m. game. 

Indiana Wesleyan 83, Spring Arbor 73: The Cougars fell on the road Wednesday in Crossroads League play. SAU trailed by one point at halftime but were outscored 46-37 in the second half. Gabe Newhof scored 21 points, Travis Grayson finished with 16 points, and Trey Cottingham added 11 points for SAU (11-12 overall, 4-9 CL).
