(June 5, 2020 8:00 AM) The Bright Walls Mural Festival has announced the postponement of the Bright Walls Grand Finale to 2021.  The third and final year of the festival had been planned for September 10-15, 2020.

The Bright Walls Mural Festival has become a favorite annual community event for the past two years. In 2019 alone, over 30,000 visitors attended the week-long event in Downtown Jackson. The festival featured international and local artists transforming buildings, music and entertainment acts played from the main stage each day, and family-friendly events were free to enjoy.

A new reality hit in early 2020 when the world began to experience the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many, it gave the Bright Walls Team a lot to think about and consider. “We love Jackson and recognize our responsibility to ensure our neighbors and visitors from around the world are enjoying our community in a healthy and safe way,” said Jacque Austin, co-director of Bright Walls Mural Festival. With that thinking as a driving force in the team’s planning, they have chosen to postpone the Bright Walls Mural Festival’s grand finale until 2021.

Leading up to 2021 festival finale, the team is working on creating a couple “bright spots” for the community to look forward to yet this year. “We have a few surprises up our sleeves to help brighten the mood in Jackson before we come back bigger and better than ever in 2021,” said Clay McAndrews, founder and co-director of Bright Walls Mural Festival.

Bright Walls is a public art and mural festival founded and run by the Jackson Young Professionals. In just two years, the festival has hosted artists from across the globe and brought 36 murals to the downtown district — creating a new destination in the community.

Throughout the 2018 and 2019 festival, Bright Walls showcased the artists’ talents alongside musicians, local artists, and many other community organizations.

Bright Walls is made possible by the support of its planning team members, partners, muralists, building owners, volunteers, and community.
