Henry Ford Health, Trinity Health Among Major Michigan Hospitals Transitioning to Optional Masks

(April 13, 2023 3:48 PM ET) After more than three years of caring for patients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many of Michigan’s major health systems are making masking optional in most areas over the next week. At Henry Ford Health, effective Friday, April 14, patients and visitors are no longer required to wear masks in Henry Ford Health facilities. Individuals who are immunocompromised and admitted to a hospital unit or visiting someone who is immunocompromised in a hospital unit is asked to continue to wear a mask. You should wear a mask if you have cold-like or COVID-19 symptoms and everyone is still welcome to wear masks if they choose to do so. Likewise, team members are no longer required to wear masks, except in inpatient hospital units where healthcare professionals care for immunocompromised patients such as oncology, transplant, and neonatal intensive care units. Public health professionals at the Jackson County Health Department and across the nation work throughout the year to create and promote a healthy community through disease prevention and control, health education, environmental protection, and emergency preparedness. During NPHW 2023, April 3-9, the Jackson County Health Department will highlight public health work done across the nation and within our own communities. Emily Moorhead Named New President of Henry Ford Jackson Hospital
(December 2, 2022 10:29 AM) Henry Ford Health System today announced the new president for Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. Emily Moorhead, FACHE, has accepted the position, effective immediately. Moorhead has served as interim president since February 2022, and prior to that, her role was chief operating officer. Moorhead will lead the Henry Ford Jackson campus in collaboration with the executive leadership team and oversee the hospital’s planning and operations. She will continue the focus on providing a high quality, safe environment while emphasizing patient, team member and physician engagement. “I am continually inspired by the strength and heart of this organization,” said Moorhead. “It is truly an honor to continue to work with such a strong team and committed community.” A seasoned executive leader, Moorhead brings more than 15 years of experience to the role. This year, the United States Government’s theme is “Putting Ourselves to the Test: Achieving Equity to End HIV “. The theme encourages people to unite globally to eliminate the disparities and inequities that create barriers to HIV testing, prevention, and access to HIV care. First observed in 1988, World AIDS Day is a day to unite, to help end HIV, and to remember those lost to AIDS-related illnesses. World AIDS Day remains as relevant today as it has always been, reminding people and governments that HIV has not gone away. The 2022 World AIDS Day theme also emphasizes accountability and action by highlighting the importance of HIV testing. “Everyone should get tested for HIV and know their status. We are advancing a status-neutral approach to HIV testing that puts equity at the forefront. As of 12:00 PM today, there are 48,213 positive cases (cumulative), and 619 deaths (cumulative)*. There are 191 new cases and 3 new deaths since last Wednesday’s report.
