Photo by Madison Vieau, JTV Sports Friday Events  Boys District Basketball Finals Division 2 at Columbia Central District Final – Chelsea 46, Western 44: Western High School finishes the season with an 11-13 overall record. Division 3 at Hanover-Horton District Final – Lumen Christi 69, Hanover-Horton 66 (2OT): The Titans advance to the Ithaca High School regional Tuesday playing Stockbridge at 7 p.m.  John Wallbaum led Hanover-Horton with 16 points, Luke Soper scored 15 points and pulled down 16 rebounds, Braylon Sayles tallied 13 points, and Brodey Bially finished with 12 points. Seven Earn Wrestling All-State Honors at Ford Field

By Jeff Steers JTV Sports   Seven Jackson County wrestlers earned all-state honors during the Michigan High School Athletic Association individual wrestling finals Saturday at Ford Field. Wrestlers needed to finish in the top eight in their respective weight classes to earn a medal and a step on the podium. Napoleon High School registered three all-state wrestlers as Carson Warner (165 pounds), Brady Warner (190), and Dallas Smith (215) all finished in the top eight in Division 3. Carson Warner finished sixth in his weight class as the sophomore and closed out the season with 39 wins. Brady Warner placed fourth winning 43 matches in his junior season for the Pirates. Smith finished with 33 wins during his senior season finishing in fifth place at the state meet at 215 pounds. Titan Parker of Western finished fifth at 165 pounds in Division 2 finishing the season with 35 wins. In Division 4, Mason Thurber of Springport placed third overall at 106 pounds with 42 wins in his freshman year. A.J. Fielder of Hanover-Horton finished fifth at 132 pounds registering his 38th win of the season in the fifth-place match. Hanover-Horton freshman Austyn Hocter was fourth at 190 pounds scoring 41…

Rose Gains Confidence From Bowling Prowess

By Jeff Steers JTV Sports (March 1, 2025 8:00 AM ET) Soccer’s loss may have been bowling’s win when it comes to Napoleon High School bowler Ethan Rose. The senior switched from being a soccer goalie to bowling in elementary school at the urging of his grandmother. A slight case of asthma may have been a factor for Rose – crowned the regional bowling individual champion a week ago. “Bowling has given me a lot of confidence over the years,” Rose said. “I have learned that I can compete with anyone out there.” Rose switched to the two handed method in junior high when he couldn’t get his hand around the ball. That sparked a resurgence in the sport of bowling. “I wasn’t having much fun so I went ahead and tried bowling two-handed,” Rose said. “My favorite bowler was a left-handed bowler from Sweden named Jesper Svensson.” Rose improved all through high school career sporting the best Cascades Conference average of 214.4 pins per game this year.
