Jackson County, Leoni, Parma and Pulaski Townships Sharing $448K from Marijuana Taxes

(March 4, 2021 11:02 AM) The Michigan Department of Treasury is distributing nearly $10 million to more than 100 municipalities and counties as a part of the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act. This week, 38 cities, seven villages, 21 townships and 38 counties began receiving payments from the Marihuana Regulation Fund for every licensed retail store and microbusiness within its jurisdiction. For the state’s 2020 fiscal year, this means each eligible municipality and county will receive around $28,000 for every licensed retail store or microbusiness. Jackson County had 8 marijuana retail and micro business licensees in 2020.  Per the distribution formula, the County of Jackson will receive $224,010.58, representing 28,001.32 for each of the 8 establishments within the county.  Leoni, with 6 licensed retail stores or micro businesses, will receive $168,007.92.  Parma and Pulaski, each with 1 establishment, will receive $28,001.32.  That’s a total of $448,021.14 in disbursements from marijuana taxes for Jackson County and the 3 townships. “The revenue generated from marijuana taxes and fees is important to our local governments,” State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks said. “In this extraordinary time, our staff is working to get those payments to impacted municipalities and counties. Every dollar helps right…
