Jackson College Dental Hygiene Clinic to Open to Public

Community members may soon utilize Jackson College’s new Dental Hygiene Clinic, which offers dental hygiene services while helping students gain experience.                 The Dental Hygiene Clinic will open for the community on Jan. 28, 2019. The clinic allows dental hygiene students to complete practice hours required as part of their studies. Students will work under the direct supervision of licensed dental hygiene instructors and dentists as they offer the following preventive services: ·         Dental Cleanings ·         X-rays ·         Fluoride Treatments ·         Oral Cancer Screening ·         Blood Pressure Screening ·         Oral Health Instruction ·         Nutritional Advising Appointments will be available Monday afternoons starting at 1:30 p.m., or Wednesday mornings starting at 8:30 a.m. Working with students who are under supervision,   appointments are expected to be between 2 to 3.5 hours long. Cleanings will include oral exam, necessary x-rays, cleaning and fluoride treatment, and will cost $30 for adults, $25 for senior citizens and children under 18. Several Area Athletes Make Detroit Free Press All-State Football Teams

By, Gabriel Schray | JTV Sports | December 18th, 2018 Fifteen Local to Jackson Athletes made the Detroit Free Press All-State Football teams. Mick McCabe is in his 47th year at the Free Press, covering primarily high school and college athletics. The list is comprised of athletes he selected and was published to Freep.com. McCabe selected hundreds of student-athletes that participated in MHSAA football this year to eight divisions worth of teams. He then named off dozens as honorable mentions for the eight divisions- who he believed deserved a nod, even though they were not placed on a team. The 2010 Michigan Sports Writer of the Year, McCabe has won several state and national awards. In April 2014, McCabe became only the fifth sports writer inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame. This is our compilation of his local and area selections. More than anything, the point of us covering his list is to make it easy for local fans, families and friends to find the athletes who were named to the daunting all-state teams.
