Redistricting Public Hearing.  6 PM. American 1 Event Center, Keeley Park, 128 W. Ganson Street, Downtown Jackson.  Under the constitutional amendment, commissioners are obligated to hold at least 10 public hearings prior to releasing a draft set of maps. Additional hearings are required after draft maps are released.   The first Public Hearing is tonight.  Michigan voters in November 2018 chose a new way to map out the state’s federal and legislative political districts.  The Redistricting Commission invites all interested citizens to attend. Red Cross Blood Drive.  This spring as COVID-19 vaccines become more available and people resume some of their favorite activities, the American Red Cross is reminding the public that the need for blood remains. Healthy individuals are encouraged to make a blood donation appointment now. But what about those who’ve received a COVID-19 vaccine – can they donate?  As long as donors are symptom-free, feeling well and can provide the vaccine manufacturer’s name, there’s no waiting period required after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine currently authorized in the U.S. Additional blood donation eligibility information is available at RedCrossBlood.org/Eligibility. Vaccination Clinic.  Brown’s Advanced Care is hosting a drive thru COVID-19 Pfizer Vaccination Clinic this Thursday from 2pm to 8pm at the Napoleon Fire Department.  Note the later hours: 2pm to 8pm.  Brown’s is trying to fill as many slots as possible. Everyone 16 and older is eligible for the free, safe and effective vaccine. Jackson Art Teachers are excited to celebrate the amazing artwork from the talented students from the Jackson area. The judging is now complete. Congratulations to all of the award winners! Thank you to the judges who had to view over 2,850 pieces of work!  See the artwork from students from more than 30 area schools.  The show includes public and private schools in Jackson County. Middle and high school students receive ribbons from a panel of judges. April 30 Center for Family Health Walk-In Vaccine Clinic.  The Center for Family Health will offer a walk-in vaccination clinic for COVID-19 this Friday, April 30.  Hours are 8 AM to 4 PM.  It is safe, effective, and will help save lives.  The vaccine is free and no appointment needed.  Bring a friend and stop in at 505 North Jackson Street between 8 AM and 4 PM today to get your shot! JCCAC Bike-A-Thon.  Virtual Event.  The Jackson County Child Advocacy Center offers support services to children affected by sexual abuse. The center has outgrown its space. Proceeds from this event will help us expand our current building.
