EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING. High pressure will move across the area today bringing with it mostly sunny skies and warmer afternoon temperatures. Highs should be in the mid to upper 80s. A warm front comes through the area Friday bringing hot and humid conditions lasting through the weekend. Saturday will likely be the hottest and most humid of the three days. On Saturday, Heat Index values will rise to around 105 degrees which is dangerously high for any one outside of any length of time. A cold front comes through the area on Sunday with thunderstorms possible.  Behind that front, the air will not be as hot or as humid but we could still see highs from the mid 80s to lower 90s into Wednesday of next week. Rain with a few thunderstorms this morning will diminish to scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms as the low pressure system tracks east across central lower Michigan. By mid afternoon the center of the surface low will be east of the state of Michigan. This will be followed by a high pressure system for Thursday that should bring considerable sunshine and much warmer afternoon temperatures. A warm front comes through the area Friday but it is expected to come through the area dry. It will bring hot and humid conditions back to the area for the weekend. A cold front comes through the area Sunday night with some thunderstorms. That will bringing in slightly cooler conditions for Monday into Tuesday with highs only in the 80s. A low pressure system will track across Lower Michigan tonight into Wednesday morning. This will bring  scattered showers to the area this afternoon with showers and a few thunderstorms tonight. The showers may linger into the mid morning hours of Wednesday. Thursday should be a pleasant sort of day with partly cloudy skies and highs in the 80s. We still expect our heat wave over the weekend with high in the lower to mid 90s and heat index values in near 100. It now looks like a cold front may come through the area Sunday evening or early Monday. A large area of high pressure will drop southward through Ontario today and then into New England on Tuesday. This system will funnel a dry airmass into Michigan today. An area of low pressure is forecasted to track eastward through the Great Lakes region Tuesday into Wednesday. Some showers and thunderstorms are predicted to accompany the passage of this system. An area of low pressure centered near Detroit this morning will slowly pull away from the region. A few showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two could develop around the region today. A weak area of low pressure will track through central parts of Lower Michigan tonight...possibly leading to a round of showers. A weakening area of low pressure situated over Illinois will track slowly east northeast into far southern Lower  Michigan tonight. This system will then pull away from the area on Saturday. Bands of rain showers will lift northward around this system during this timeframe resulting in an unsettled weather pattern mainly for southern Lower Michigan.
