BASEBALL

Springport 2, Vermontville Maple Valley 0: Andon Zeinert and Drew Kregel each batted two hits for the Spartans in game one. Zeinert led on the hill with a dominant pitching performance, throwing 11 strikeouts and allowed just two hits.

Springport 6, Vermontville Maple Valley 1: Andon Zeinert drove in three runs on two hits to help lead the Spartans in game two as they swept the Lions. Kolton Woyame batted 3-4 with an RBI, and Drew Kregel batted two hits. Gibson Overweg was the winning pitcher, throwing 13 strikeouts in a complete game. Springport has won six of their last eight games and is now 20-5 overall.

Parma Western 6, Northwest 2: Andrew Parrott and Bennett Luke each batted two hits for the Panthers in game one. Western scored three runs in the 6th inning to pull away. Parrott also earned the pitching win, throwing seven strikeouts in a complete game.

(8 inn.) Parma Western 6, Northwest 5: A walkoff RBI single from Isaiah Norwood won it in extra innings for Western to take game two and sweep the rival Mounties. Andrew Parrott batted three hits for the Panthers. Norwood and Bennett Luke each added two hits. Avery Anspaugh drove in three runs on two hits. Western improves to 21-3-1 overall.

Napoleon 8, Addison 3: Grant Straub, Tyler Nall, and Logan Hankis each batted two hits for the Pirates in game one. Issac Caroffino was the winning pitcher, throwing eight strikeouts in 5.1 innings.

Napoleon 23, Addison 1: Jacob Hartwig drove in five runs on three hits to lead the Pirates in a mercy rule. Five other players batted two hits each for Napoleon. NHS has now won four straight games and improves to 15-9 overall.

SOFTBALL

Columbia Central 12, Hanover Horton 3: Kelsey Fausz, Gabby Gaydosh, and Savannah MacBlain each batted three hits for CC in game one including four RBIs from Fausz. Hailey Wetherby threw 13 strikeouts in a complete game.

Columbia Central 6, Hanover Horton 3: Hailey Wetherby batted 3-4 with 2 RBIs to lead the Golden Eagles in game two. Kelsey Fausz added two hits and two RBIs. Camden Knapp was the winning pitcher, throwing eight strikeouts. CC sweeps conference rival Hanover Horton, ranked honorable mention in Division 3, and remains perfect at 24-0-1 overall.

Parma Western 13, Northwest 2: Maycee DeGroat homered into left field in the fifth inning to end the game via mercy rule. Amber Gregory batted 2-4 with 5 RBIs for Western, and also took the win in the circle with seven strikeouts. Boston Hoffius and Addison Yanovich each added three hits.

Parma Western 20, Northwest 3: Amber Gregory drove in four runs on three hits to lead Western in game two. The Panthers sweep rival Northwest at home on senior night and improve to 14-11 overall.

Napoleon 16, Addison 0: Haven Marker had 3 hits for Napoleon in game one. Molly Simpson, Hayden Rendall and Katelyn Ault all had 3 RBIs each. Kaitlyn Fall struck out eight batters and allowed one hit in the circle.

Napoleon 11, Addison 0: Hayden Rendall had 3 hits for the Pirates. Rendall, Kaitlyn Fall and Jenna Yob each had 2 RBIs. Fall earned another pitching win, striking out eight batters. Napoleon improves to 13-9 overall.
