BASEBALL

Lumen Christi 8, Grass Lake 7: It was a battle between two top-10 teams in Division 3 on Thursday at GLHS in a single game. LC scored four runs in the 7th inning to rally and take the win. A 2-RBI double for the Titans from Wes Learned made it just a 7-6 Warriors lead. Another 2-RBI double from Eli Kimble gave LC the 8-7 lead and they held on. Seven different players combined for GL’s seven hits, Cam Prater and Manny Schafran each had 2 RBIs. Five different players had two hits each for Lumen Christi, including two RBIs each from Paul Sattler, Eli Kimble, and Wes Learned. #5 LC improves to 25-7 overall, and #8 GL falls to 20-7.

 

Springport 7, Northwest 4: Drew Kregel batted 3-4 to lead the Spartans in game one. Springport scored five runs in the 5th inning to take the lead, Andon Zeinert added two hits. Ripken Overweg was the winning pitcher.

 

Springport 11, Northwest 4: Gavin Lightner drove in three runs on three hits to lead the Spartans in game two. Drew Kregel also batted three hits and took the win on the hill. Hunter Miller, Andon Zeinert, and Ripken Overweg each added two hits. #20 Springport defeats D2 Northwest and improves to 22-5 overall.

SOFTBALL

Concord 16, Hanover Horton 15: The Comets scored six runs in the 7th inning to rally and tie the game. Gabriella Herzberg walked it off for Concord, hitting an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th to win it. Cieara Barrett batted a whopping six hits with five RBIs for the Yellowjackets including two home runs. Jordyan Metcalf and Mya Barrett each added three hits. Makenna Owens drove in three runs on two hits to lead Hanover Horton.

 

Napoleon 10, Olivet 0: Kaitlyn Fall earned the win for the Pirates, her fourth of the week. She only allowed 1 hit and had 5 strikeouts. Haven Marker had 3 hits and 2 runs scored. Hayden Rendall and Jenna Yob had 2 RBIs each.

 

Napoleon 14, Olivet 9: Hannah Hamlin earned the win in the circle. She allowed one earned run and had 3 strikeouts. Hayden Rendall had 2 hits and 1 RBI, her first hit was her 150th of her career. Molly Simpson, Jocelyn Gamez and Katelyn Ault each had 2 hits. Molly Simpson had 3 RBIs and Haven Marker had 2 RBIs. Napoleon has now won five in a row and improves to 16-9.

 

Springport 2, Northwest 0: Ashlyn Underhill and Mykah Shoemaker each batted two hits to lead the Spartans in game one. Morgan Shoemaker put on a dominant pitching performance, throwing 16 strikeouts and allowing just one hit.

 

Springport 9, Northwest 3: SaRayah Stewart drove in three runs on two hits to lead Springport. Morgan Shoemaker and Kendall Petrak also batted two hits each. Ashlyn Underhill threw nine strikeouts and earned the win in the circle. Springport improves to 21-6 overall.

MHSAA GIRLS TENNIS REGIONALS

Division 4 at Hillsdale: Lumen Christi tied for 2nd place with Kalamazoo Hackett as a team, qualifying them for the D4 state finals. Lydia Sanders of Columbia Central HS is heading to the state finals after reaching the championship match in #1 singles. LC’s Kara Lamarre reached the final match in #3 singles, and Piper Keene also appeared in the final match in #4 singles. Kathleen McClure/Claire Kalahar won the championship in #3 doubles, with finalists also in #2 and 4 doubles.
