VOLLEYBALL

Jackson Christian 3, Camden-Frontier 1: Ella Boll led the Royals with 12 kills, 5 blocks and 8 aces. Malia Kniffen and Makenna Heins both added 6 kills each.

 

Hanover Horton Quad: The Comets continued to roll on Tuesday in the home quad, defeating Homer and East Jackson in 3 sets each. HH is now ranked #7 in the state for Division 3 in this week’s Michigan HS Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

 

Concord 3, Springport 0: The Yellowjackets continued to play well on Tuesday, defeating the rival Spartans in straight sets, 25-4, 25-3 and 25-7. Concord is ranked just outside the top 10 in this week’s state rankings for Division 4.

 

Napoleon Quad: The Pirates went 1-1 in the home quad, losing to Manchester 3-2 and defeating Columbia Central 3-1.

 

Leslie Quad: Grass Lake defeated Jonesville in 3 sets, and the Comets defeated Vandercook Lake in 3 sets at LHS.

 

Jackson 3, Ypsilanti Lincoln 2: After going back and forth and falling to the Railsplitters in the 4th set, the Vikings dominated the 5th set 15-3 to take home the SEC road victory.

 

GIRLS GOLF REGIONALS

D4 at Cascades GC: Lumen Christi finished in 2nd place as a team, shooting an overall score of 416. Individually, Peyton Best of the Titans and Haley Stimer of Concord tied for 10th place with a score of 101. LC has now qualified for the MHSAA Girls Golf State Finals in Division 4, taking place October 17-18 at Ferris State University (Katke Golf Course), Columbia Central and Napoleon will also be locally represented in the D4 meet.

 

CROSS COUNTRY

Big 8 at Concord: In the boys race on Tuesday, the host Yellowjackets took 4th place and Springport finished in 6th. Maddox Hutchinson led the Concord boys, running a time of 18:09.34. Aidan Bradley led the Spartans boys team, finishing in 9th with a time of 18:32.04. In the girls race, Concord took home 2nd place and Springport finished 7th. Freshman Audrey Pyle of Concord finished in 2nd with a time of 20:53.65. 

 

Madison Invitational: Hanover Horton dominated the Madison race for both the boys and girls on Tuesday. HH took first place in both races and had two runners each finish in the top three. Chad Tyson ran a time of 16:51.51 to lead the boys race, and sophomore Maisey Toteff led the girls race with a 20:34.63 time.

 

Napoleon vs Vandercook Lake: Napoleon took home the win as a team in the boys race. Dallas Swanaepoel of Vandercook ran for first place with a time of 17:59.
